The other day I was looking for sth nice to eat, but the other restaurants were either a little expensive with regular food, or that something was missing in their vibes. Finally we decided to chill here because the interior is vintage and Christmassy, plus we get to sit at half outdoorsy area.I looked up the food review here and was worried, but it turned out great! We ordered a milkshake, it tasted yummy with real strawberries inside, and part of the mixture became an icecream.then there’s the pork rib, sauce is good and also the meat was so tender. Potato wedges were better than expected too.Nachos are decent as well, though can be better. The thing is their menu looks really bad & discouraging.Service was good too.so if you are hesitating, just go try it maybe skip the fish and chips, it’s big but you may be disappointed.

I have walked past this place so many times and did not notice it.Came here one late afternoon because the restaurant I wanted to go was closed so came here randomly. The decor reminded me of Ed's Diner in the UK with duke boxes and American fixtures. It seemed like it was an old restaurant.I probably should have ordered milkshake or a burger but I chose Fish and Chips instead.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Fish and chips:Honestly, the fish did not look appetizing, the batter looked so shiny and oily. There were also holes in the batter too!The batter was really weird and almost like a poppadum cracker wrapped round the fish.It was not even stuck to the fish which was good.Basically it was just like breaking off a shell on the fish and the batter was just a piece of thin tasty cracker! As for the fish, I really liked it because it was firm cod that was really flakey. Finally the chips were disappointing because according to the menu they were meant to be fat chips and these were just potato wedges.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Walked by here when we were on our way further down the street for a burger, the seats looked quite comfortable so came here instead (as the weather is not that great today and we didn't want to sit outside with the other burger joint). Each dish is around $80 - $150 which is expensive for what it is... just burgers/hot dogs/sandwiches etc...wasn't really craving any fatty foods so went for a Reuben sandwich, my colleague went for a roast beef sandwich with gravyThere was only one waitress in the whole diner, she looked very disgruntled and had an attitude when serving patrons.. this gave us a bad impression of the restaurantThe food took at least 20 minutes to arrive and by then we were starvingboth dishes came with fries.1. Roast Beef & Gravy sandwich (refer to pic)2. Reuben Sandwich (Pastrami/Swiss Cheese)The fries were the skinny cut kind and were just fried so hot n crunchyThe Reuben was what it is, normal, no big surprisesThe roast beef with gravy was good but we thought it was weird that it had peas on it....It was 12:45pm on a weekday, and only three tables were occupied, something is not right here.... they need to step up their game~

if your craving guilty fatty mac n cheese, burger type food, this place does give you that when we got seated, the place is rather dirty and greasy looking. and seated at the back of the rather cramped place, we could easily peer into the tiny aluminium kitchen and of course the washroom :Sthe table was also greasy and wet looking.Dishes were in generous american potions.Ordered:1. Mac n Cheese (came with side salad): this was funny as one half of the dish was a literally a brick of cheesy yummy pasta and the other would be clean green salad. ahhaha. i was glad they decided to put the dressing in a seperate cup instead of lathering what was left of a exceptionally healthy meal . the mac and cheese was just what i wanted, but it was really served in a shape of the rectangle as if it came from a pre-prepared big pasta pie or some microwave container. in terms of taste, fatty food tastes good if your up for it. it won't be sth you compare with fine dining, but definitly a worthy guilty pleasure. 2. Fish n Chips:big portion. i haven't had enough of battered crispy fish or deep-fried potatoes to know what the best ones can get. but i guess Al's did okay with it. but its a lot of carbs, which fills you up. and i don't think we actually finished the whole thing. dipping the food with the Range dressing for the salad, alternating with mustard, ketchip or lemon. definitly allowed some variation.overall the food was nth great, but if your having the munchies for sth heavy filling cheese type food, this will do. service is not great, they are really understaffed and food may take a while. as for pricing, its definitly not cheap. and personally í'd rather just hike up a bit more and eat as Jaspas. but all in all, Al's Diner is like any other place in that street. a place to go to if youre familiar with it. the music playing in the background was kinda loud for chilling and chatting. but i guess if you get drinks on their open terrace area, it should be fine.go here for their jello-shots or dancing on the tables. perhaps.

Two comments only:1. They only have one waiter serving 7-8 tables, I literally begged the guy to clean up the table for me;2. After your meal, you will have the smell of frech fries all over you for the rest of the day, as if you've been sitting in the kitchen for 10 hours.Food is fair but not cheap.Think twice before you walk in.
