Having just came back from the US a few weeks ago, i was craving the in-n-out style burger and decided to try out caliburger which is supposed to be the most similar thing in HK
i ordered the HKD65 mushroom burger, chilli cheese fries and also tried out my friend's wild fries (during lunch time, and all of this was to go, so essentially had it maybe 20minutes after it was made)
Having heard some mixed comments from my friends, i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the mushroom burger. yes, the buns were a bit thick (as some reviews have said), but overall the beef patty was juicy, hot, and the lettuce/tomatoes tasted fresh.
the wild fries (believe this is the "animal fries" equivalent) were good - although in-n-out has overall better presentation/taste, i still enjoyed caliburger's version of it and the texture of the fries were satisfying. the sauce was similar to in-n-out's, and even tho i usually stay away from eating too many fries, i had a few too many
The chilli cheese fries had some room for improvement as it just felt a bit like wild fries with bolognaise and chilli thrown on top, which was a bit weird for me
At HKD65 a (mushroom) burger i would say this is not cheap, but also a bad value proposition considering the better than expected quality, and it did solve my burger craving. Compared to the other "high profile" burger joint that opened in wan chai recently that charges HKD100 for a basic burger, i would say caliburger is a superior option
Would give Caliburger a 4 out of 5 rating
