On the recommendation of a geriatrician, my family went to Dandy’s for dinner for the first time last night. It was after a sightseeing trip to Tai Kwun and PMQ and we were indeed tired and definitely needed a comfy place to rest and feed ourselves. Dandy’s granted our wish with its pleasant decor, nice service and quality and savoury food. We ordered three boost drinks: liver, beauty and immune boosts, which tasted fresh and palatable. The server waiting on us was kind and helpful. Aware of our curiosity about the boost drinks, she shared some interesting details about the ingredients and how they were prepared. As to the main course, while she did recommend the set dinner which included lamp chop, there was no hard or over selling. Dazzled by the choices on the menu, we picked our preference: fish burger, cheese burger, and chicken and veggie green curry. While taking our order, the server took the opportunity to explain to us the differences we might observe in terms of the ingredients that they used for preparing burger buns and brown rice for the curry. It was very kind and thoughtful of her indeed. The dishes came in about 15 -20 minutes, allowing us ample time for a nice evening chat and a good look at the different health products on display. My curry and brown rice were just a good match and flavourful. The veggies, including Brussels sprouts and broccoli, were fresh and crunchy and went extremely well with the green curry sauce and brown rice. As to the burgers my wife and sister-in-law ordered, they found the gluten-free buns tasteful, its texture fine, the fish/beef savoury and the fries with the home-made tomato sauce exceptional in terms of taste and freshness! Finishing everything on our plate, we simply didn’t have “room” for desserts, which we will definitely try next time. Before getting the bill, we got a package of spaghetti made of brown rice, which we’d like to try at home. The server again impressed us with her thoughtfulness sharing some cooking tips with us. All in all, it was a genuinely “fine” dining experience for the three of us.

Previously tried Dandy's on Jervois Street and now they have moved to Upper Lascar Row.
We were seated on a table near the entrance and it was not that busy that day.
After we sat down, we were given the menu to look at, not long after we browsed even the first page one of the waitresses asked if we were ready to order so I asked if we could have a few more minutes.
She backed off but still stood behind us waiting for us to order. I couldn't quite understand the rush but since she was in a rush I decided to take photos of the menu on the back pages for later perusal as the dishes I wanted to order were on the front two.
Weirdly the other waitress came over and said no photos of the menu were allowed but if I was given the time to browse the menu I wouldn't need to take pics of the menu and I felt rushed ordering because I didn't get time to look through the menu thoroughly.

Food came so we started eating it.
The bacahau I had was a tad salty, when I was onto the fifth piece, there was a big piece of fish bone that got lodged between my gum so I had to pull it out shown on the plate.
Overall, the food was ok and the staff were pretty laid back after you had ordered and started eating the food.
It was just the annoyance of being rushed to order as I may have chosen something better or more delicious had I had more time.

When we left, we saw a lady who is possibly the owner chef of this place that seemed pretty nice.
