There are two well-known dessert places in Yuen Long, right across the street from one another. Folks drive from all over Hong Kong after work to unwind at Kei Kee Dessert. Then there's the other place, the one that locals go to, the one that's actually good. I'm reluctant to tell my dear readers that Fan Hau Dessert is the better of the two, because it's crowded enough already and I hate having to wait for a seat. Maybe you wouldn't agree with me anyway; I guess it depends on what sorts of dess
Fan Hau Dessert has a lot of Chinese "dessert soups" as well as dishes with fresh fruit; they also make a mean shaved ice. Some come here for the street food--fishballs in hot sauce, that sort of thing--but it's not really to my liking. My husband and I will often stop by to get mango crêpes to go if we don't have time to linger. Otherwise, our favorite dishes are taro in sago (served hot) and mango, sago, and coconut milk (served cold). We suspect that the coconut milk is spiked with evaporated milk to make it thicker and creamier, but haven't asked the ladies behind the counter for confirmation. Another thing I've noticed is that the sago here is chewier and more substantial than at other dessert places, which is a plus for those who care about texture.
Today, DH had mixed fruit with grass jelly while I was in the mood for a chocolate and taro shaved ice, which can be ordered with or without fruit. As usual, our portions were larger than average, and everything was made with fresh ingredients. The people seated next to us wanted what we were having, and they seemed to enjoy it as well.

Other Info. :
Fat Kid Tip: Dessert soup portions are a bit larger if you order take-away, due to the size of the Styrofoam bowls.
