My friends and I went to grappas to eat and participate in the weekly swing dance for the first time.
We arrived at the door and a lady who wore casual clothes came to greet us and asked if we were here for swing dance. We said yes and she brought us to the stairs and pointed to the corner (not a table) and walked away. Being there for the first time, we had no idea what was going on and the lady was not helpful at all. We went to get more help and an old man (manager) walked up to us and said that the corner is the area for swing dancers but before saying we also want to be seated so we can eat as well, he had already walked away.
Already frustrated and confused, we went to the regular wait staff and said we also wanted to eat and be seated, they finally lead us to a table.
We ordered the ‘Strozzapreti all N’duja’ and the recommended pizza “Mickey B” and some drinks. The pasta arrived to the table first before any of the drinks. The pasta was fantastic and was genuinely the highlight of the evening.
Then the pizza came. The ingredients on it were buffalo mozzarella, zucchini, mushrooms and italian pork sausage. They put the WETTEST ingredients you can find on the planet and decided it was a good idea to put it on a pizza. The pizza was soaked from the vegetables, it felt like eating raw dough. Even if the ingredients were fine, the pizza had no flavour and there was no sauce base on it. Italians would be rolling in their graves had they witnessed this atrocity. I genuinely would have preferred to eat pizza hut that was left out for a month before eating the ‘Mickey B’ again.
When we left, we told the manager about our experience and he wasn’t apologetic or shameful at all, he repeatedly said “really?” As if we weren’t telling the truth. Also the lady in casual clothing wasn’t a manager and had a horrible attitude to us and other customers.
Grappa’s was probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. A local cha chaan teng would have better service.
