Went here because of the great openrice reviews, a group of four Europeans.
We had mushroom cream soup with black truffle, onion soup, and parma ham with melon for starters. The onion soup was commended, the mushroom cream soup could have used a tad bit more salt but was tasty otherwise, and the ham and melon were good.
The bread served with the starters was almost black, with a weird taste of cacao (?). It was a bit too toasted and the crust was too thick for my taste. I'd have preferred plain white bread.
For mains we had Iberico pork, beef carpaggio, ribeye steak, and spaghetti carbonara.
The carbonara came without bacon but with plenty of mushrooms. That's unfortunate when you don't like mushrooms, like my friend who was having it. It would be better to indicate the pasta as mushroom cream sauce.
My steak was huge and tender, good seasoning. The beans it came with were nice and crunchy, the potatoes were a bit too tough and overcooked.
The Iberico pork was tender too, and plentiful. Same sides as for the steak.
The carpaggio was a disaster! A carpaggio is THIN meat - thin - and usually made of filet. Not this one. My friend was unable to cut it as the meat was very fatty and the slices were thick. Upon complaining she was given a steak knife and the excuse that 'it is made the Italian way, by hand and not with the machine, that's why it's thicker.' She didn't manage to eat any more of it - the meat was hotpot or barbecue material but definitely not something that you could eat raw. Staff didn't offer an alternative.
Next came desserts. We ordered the green apple soufflé, warm chocolate pudding, apple pie, and cheesecake. All of it was very tasty, though the chocolate pudding had a slight taste of alcohol - unwelcome if you don't drink and expect plain chocolate flavour.
Staff was overall attentive and friendly, though they didn't provide much support with the complaint and waiting time between dishes was long.
On a side note: the lady's room is a disaster. Not exactly dirty but packed with cleaning stuff, parcels and other rubbish that doesn't belong in a washroom. The sink must have been made for a dwarf, it's so low. Not exactly what you'd expect at this level.
