放工突然間想食印度咖哩,於是同朋友嚟到重慶大廈搵嘢食。大廈入面一路行會有好多印度人用廣東話問你食唔食咖哩,都唔知好驚定好笑入到嚟想食咖哩牛肉但又唔知揀邊隻,所以叫咗侍應推介於是佢就整咗個[白汁牛,$68;原味naan,$18]俾我,仲話個白汁牛係off menu㗎喎果然冇介紹錯,好香又唔太辣。除咗牛肉外,汁入面仲有菠蘿同腰果等等食咖哩要叫埋naan是常識呢塊naan夠熱夠濕潤夠韌度,一流最後食印度菜點會少得[mango lassi,$35] 咖哩雖然唔太辣,但係點都會愈食愈辣,呢個時候mango lassi就係好幫手而且佢都好濃,就算啲冰溶咗,溝返勻之後都仲係唔會淡貿貿

To be honest, I think Indian food is one of the most affordable kind of cuisine in Hong Kong, a perfect way to fight against inflation during this difficult time in Hong Kong. 
As long as we were seated, we were of course served with some crispy warm papadum with the classic lime green sauce. Pretty standard but I like that they serve with a foiled container to maintain its temperature.

Indian food is generally heavily spiced so we ordered some plain naan instead. The naan is the thicker type with a little more dough-y kind of feel, the inner part of the dough is very airy after being heated in a super hot oven, therefore you may see some part of the naan can be separated into two layers.

Then it comes to the mutton curry which is not as spicy and is interestingly served in a claypot. The mutton pieces are very soft with no gamey taste. The curry is not a cream based curry which I like. I believe it's a mix of tomato, cilantro, garlic, onion and much more. It's a rather sweet taste curry with a little bit of heat, perfect to go with the plain fluffy naan!

Tandoori chicken is one of their signature dishes. 4 big pieces of chicken sitting on a bed of veggies on a sizzling hot skillet, the very authentic way to enjoy this Indian BBQ type of meat. The chicken has been marinated until very flavourful. Meanwhile, they are not too fatty even though they are quite moist and succulent. A dash of lemon juice would awaken the flavour of the lean meat.

Finishing off the meal with a cup of hot masala tea is how I roll. Winter is coming soon so it's nice to drink something hot rather than the cold mango lassi! Masala tea is something I used to make all the time back in the UK, so I really miss that very unique taste from the spice, something that I would never forget.

As you know, I am fearless to go anywhere for food so finally checked it out and discovered the first floor which was amazing.

When I got there, there were so many people touting you and trying to lead you to a different restaurant. I foresaw this situation so had a clear mind where I wanted to go and refused to listen to anyone because it was funny how they tried to twist the restaurant name and claim it was the one you were looking for.

Anyway, finally arrived at Khyber Pass Mess club where is was evidently popular with the Hong Kong crowd because the guy speaks Chinese, no expats that night.

We started with naan and curries.

The lamb curry came in lots of curry sauce which was great for dipping naan but it was a bit salty.

在朋友之中我是出了名的吃貨~常負責搜羅本港好吃的餐廳小鋪~自從第一次鼓起勇氣踏進重慶大廈之後,就時常帶朋友來開拓新天地。時隔三年再次光顧咖喱王感覺熟悉~還記得第一次幾番周折戰戰兢兢不敢推開門到現在輕車熟路~我對美食的熱情從未減退~每次來都要點的青瓜乳酪~加入青瓜的酸奶感覺很清新,這應該是印度特色,很多印度餐廳都會供應~其中還加入了特色香料,習慣了甜味乳酪的人可能會不習慣,但是喜歡嘗試各種口味的我非常買單~抱著獵奇的心思點了這份腰果汁羊肉。其實腰果是油分很高的堅果,用它做汁讓咖喱羊肉更加香滑,淋上椰奶香料,這份羊肉配薄餅不知不覺就可以吃下好多。一直沒有明白Malasa和Curry之間的關係,不過沒有關係好吃最重要。如果是沒有嘗試過正宗印度料理的新人來說,這個比較適合嘗試。個人覺得無論是雞、羊還是牛都不重要~醬汁才是印度菜的精髓~特別適合配飯或者薄餅。我們兩人點了一份蒜香薄餅一份芝士薄餅,芝士薄餅裏面啖啖芝士,一下就被消滅了~重慶大廈的確算得上一個特色食處~

一直沒有明白Malasa和Curry之間的關係,不過沒有關係好吃最重要。如果是沒有嘗試過正宗印度料理的新人來說,這個比較適合嘗試。個人覺得無論是雞、羊還是牛都不重要~醬汁才是印度菜的精髓~特別適合配飯或者薄餅。

我們兩人點了一份蒜香薄餅一份芝士薄餅,芝士薄餅裏面啖啖芝士,一下就被消滅了~

我們兩個人,總共叫了三個咖喱,首先來的,是羊肉的 Vindaloo,Vindaloo 是最辣的咖喱之一,單是那紅紅的咖喱汁,已經令人覺得這東西吃入口一定會嘖火。入口,的確是很辣,但這辣度同我們在英國食過的辣度,明顯地低了至少一個辣椒,羊肉倒是不錯,充滿了香料,入口不羶。

另一個咖喱,是啱香港人口味的招牌牛腩,亦是店方的推介。再者,香港人食咖喱,十個有九個,都只會知道有咖喱牛腩。其實,因為宗教問題,好多印度餐廳,尤其是巴基斯坦餐廳,係唔會 serve 牛肉的,因為印度教同錫克教都不會吃牛肉的,以印巴人為服務對像的餐廳,一定不會有牛肉。

不過,時間、地點、人物均在香港,咖喱牛腩是香港人的食物,一旦店主不是印度教或錫克教信徒,就有機會吃到牛肉,而且是 Halal 的牛肉。

咖哩底,是普通的咖哩,內有大大舊的牛腩肉,有紅蘿蔔,是十足十我們中國人整的咖喱牛腩,只是咖喱汁是印度風味而已。

淡口一點的咖喱,是雞肉 Korma。而且我說過好多好多汁,雞肉配 Korma 這一種咖喱,可以說是絕配。很奇怪地,這一個 Chicken Korma,多了一隻雞蛋,而且色水偏燈....我食慣的,色水是偏黃的,不過,食落又真是 Korma 的味道,椰子的香味重,入口半點也不辣,除顏色之外,沒有什麼不對版。

食咖喱,最好就是配 Naan,熱辣辣的烤餅,沾咖喱香口,或用一片 Naan 夾住一舊肉連咖喱汁一併放入口,是絕佳的享受。其實,naan 佈可以夾牛油,夾肉碎,夾蒜片,但我始終都是喜歡 plain naan,簡單香口就是好。

印巴人食咖喱,除了薄餅外,還會配飯,而我喜歡他們的 Pullao Rice,印度香料炒黃飯。入口,有油香,有獨特的香料味道,Basami rice 的爽滑口感,雖未是我吃過最正的,但已經是夠香夠味。

好耐無去重慶到食咖哩,記得上次黎都係黎依間都食,不過其實上黎既時候要過重重難關,十足打機做任務咁,不過要食好野既野就係咁嫁喇,成咋人係下面派單張,我地就有我地行,一陣間就走仲上黎,睇落同我上次上黎食一樣咁,不過係有裝修過嫁,而且睇落仲乾淨左,原來佢係有私人房嫁,不過今次得幾丁友,當然無可能坐到房,黎到依到,薄餅當然係一定要叫既,今次就叫左一份洋蔥另外要多一份芝士,食落非常好食,水準當然都係無咩點變,不過賣相就差左,睇落好似油左少少,朋友比較鍾意食魚所以佢就叫左個fish madras,因為佢唔太食辣既關係,呢個食落唔算太重口味,而且幾香甜下嫁,幾好味,而我就要依個chicken makhai 佢話依個好多人叫,而且重香料少少都係唔會太辣既,味道都算唔錯,如果食辣既可能會仲正嫁。

之前經過重慶大廈 見到好多印巴人 就算經過都會比佢地招手 後來聽人講重慶大廈既印度咖喱幾好味 於是今日就同男友膽粗粗去試 去到門口其實都驚驚地 因為佢地一行十幾人圍住塞傳單比我地 入左去等升降機途中 原來都有好好既印巴人 因為佢知我地搭錯左 提示我地去岩既位置 上到去侍應同老闆都熱情招待我們 前菜比左一塊簿餅我地..再加綠色既調味料.之後我地點左雞臂同兩個簿餅.食完之後我們都開心離開..下次一定帶朋友黎試下

之前經過重慶大廈 見到好多印巴人 就算經過都會比佢地招手 後來聽人講重慶大廈既印度咖喱幾好味 於是今日就同男友膽粗粗去試 去到門口其實都驚驚地 因為佢地一行十幾人圍住塞傳單比我地 入左去等升降機途中 原來都有好好既印巴人 因為佢知我地搭錯左 提示我地去岩既位置 上到去侍應同老闆都熱情招待我們 前菜比左一塊簿餅我地..再加綠色既調味料.之後我地點左雞臂同兩個簿餅.食完之後我們都開心離開..下次一定帶朋友黎試下

其實重慶大廈既咖哩非常之出名,不過印象中唔係黎左太多次,上次黎應該都好多年前喇,今次同朋友一齊就食左咖哩王,因為係佢介紹嫁,所以希望唔好令我失望。慢慢睇餐牌既時候,不過依個時間店員無喇喇同我講,唔洗咁麻煩喇,幫你地準備每人預算太約一百左右既食物同二人分量吧,當然無野飲喇,竟然係依D地方都有咁既服務,果然服務一流, 野食黎到喇,的確係大部分既款式也有幫我地準備,咩雞,牛,羊,雜菜也一應俱全咩都有,印度個特色既Nann bread都有準備到比我,仲有三款口味咁多芝士又有,蔥又有仲有原味既,味道都唔錯,不過就有多左少少油係面,而且有少少膩。不過都好食,肉質都唔錯不過不失既水準,不過咖哩仲比想像中要濃,不過就係要有心理準備會比較消化的,因為都幾濃味下。

從前聽說, 重慶大廈內印度餐廳的咖喱是城中最地道的, 所以一直都想去試試, 但每次經過, 只見一群群印巴人和黑人聚在一起, 又說那兒品流複雜, 人少不宜內進云云, 所以只是停留在"想"的階段. 但一次聚會後, 原來發覺友人都有共同想法, 於是決定相約一起去重慶大廈食咖喱!星期五晚的重慶大廈入口, 仍舊站了很多印巴男人在招客, 我和友人J同時到達. 當我們入內與已經到達了的友人會合時, 一群印度男人突然向我們衝過來把我們包圍著, 爭相把傳單塞入我們的手內, 場面十分恐怖! 不過, 只要你選好了一間餐廳後, 其他餐廳的"代表"就會四散, 繼續在大廈入口招客. 我們之後跟著派傳單的印度人在大廈內左轉右轉, 由於他們行得很快, 又在中途換了好幾個人來帶路, 而且大廈內就像迷宮一樣, 每條通道都差不多, 我們只好死命的跟隨著, 才不致走失!  好不容易, 才來到電梯口, 不過只有一架電梯可以到達餐廳的樓層. 電梯又舊又窄, 加上又有人在搬貨, 我們一行六人也要分開兩次搭乘.好不容易才到達餐廳, 到達時正值七時多, 心想應該爆滿吧! 一入內卻嚇了一跳: 不是人客太多, 而是居然人客不多, 只有三份

好不容易才到達餐廳, 到達時正值七時多, 心想應該爆滿吧! 一入內卻嚇了一跳: 不是人客太多, 而是居然人客不多, 只有三份一滿! 而且招呼我們的不是印度人, 而是說廣東話的香港人! 這裡的侍應和老闆都是香港人, 只有在廚房裡工作的才是印度人, 果然與一般印度餐廳以印度人做侍應很不同. 餐廳沒有一般餐廳的印度式的裝修, 很平實, 反而很有在家吃飯的感覺; 而且餐牌中英對照, 不明白還可以問侍應, 不怕點錯食物.

安頓後, 還未看餐牌, 侍應首先送上胡椒烤薄餅. 這個有烤薄餅, 像紙一樣薄又脆, 入口有點鹹味, 不太辣, 但當吞下時, 辣味才慢慢滲出來, 不吃辣的友人大呼受不了! 幸好, 隨烤薄餅送上的綠色醬汁成了她們的救星! 這個看似是薄荷醬的汁, 質地很稀, 帶酸味, 有微微香草味道, 用來點薄餅可減低辣度, 朋友們都很喜歡, 不過我卻覺得太稀了, 如果杰身一點可能會好些.

由於主要想吃咖喱, 所以點了幾款不同的咖喱; 另加烤雞, 烤餅和飯.

鐵板烤雞: 個人認為是到印度餐廳必點食物. 烤雞用了雞搥, 所以肉質比一般的烤雞嫩滑; tandoori香料醃得尚算入味, 但友人認為雞肉卻仍然比較乾身, 個人認為已經比平常在印度餐廳吃到的為佳.

咖喱方面, 我們點了咖喱羊, 咖喱雞和咖喱什菜.

咖喱羊: 小小的一碟, 有五件羊肉和少量薯仔, 店家用上了羊肉而不是羊腩. 羊肉煮得很腍, 一咬即散, 保留了少許的羊羶味, 比起清真恵記的羊腩, 雖然有點不及, 但也算及格有餘. 咖喱汁較杰身, 入口只是微辣, 帶點羊羶味, 但之後就會感受到它的辣度, 香料味也偏重, 味道較濃郁, 有種令人越食越想食的感覺, 是全晚最刺激的一道.

咖喱雞: 份量與咖喱羊相約, 只有四件雞及一塊薯仔! 雞肉完全沒有味道, 而且偏乾又偏嚡口, 與之前的鐵板烤雞相比, 也相差太遠, 沒有甚麼吃頭! 咖喱汁與咖喱羊的也完全不同, 這個基本上是一丁點兒辣勁也沒有, 不吃辣的友人也說不辣! 入口連丁點香料味也沒有, 而且咖喱汁也太稀身了, 就算用來拌飯吃, 也未免太稀了!

咖喱什菜: 材料有雞心豆, 紅腰豆, 西蘭花, 薯仔, 椰菜花, 紅蘿蔔, 秋葵等等, 是很典型的印度什菜.  蔬菜都煮得很腍, 咖喱味道少辣偏甜, 由於它的咖喱汁比較杰身, 無論用來拌飯, 又或是點烤餅也較佳, 是不吃辣友人的至愛.

烤餅(Naan)與咖喱是絕配, 所以點咖喱的菜式餘, 也點了幾款烤餅. 我們試了原味, 香草, 和牛油味. 幾款味道之中, 個人認為以原味最好吃, 但友人認為香草也不俗. 每籃烤餅只有一大片, 不過大概不是即點即烤的, 因為口感很不一樣. 最先送上的烤餅, 不太熱, 外內也很軟身, 味道一般; 但後來送上的烤餅, 卻很熱燙, 烤得外脆內軟, 口感和味道也是很讚的! 味道方面, 個人認為香草的味道偏淡, 而且香草份量少, 如果不是點點的綠色, 大概以為是在原味烤餅! 至於牛油味的烤餅, 偏油膩, 牛油味一般, 不是我的"非佛".

印度黃飯: 以前在印度餐廳吃過黃飯, 覺得有特色之餘, 味道也不錯, 不過這裡的黃飯卻又是另一回事. 說是黃飯, 倒不如說是炒飯! 上枱時我們還再三與侍應確定有沒有送錯! 這碟黃飯一點也不黃, 顏色很白. 炒得尚算乾身, 粒粒分明, 不過很鬆散, 口感很乾, 而且香料味道也很少, 除了茴香味以外, 其他應有的香料如藏紅花等也沒有. 無論賣相與食味, 都是絕對令人失望.

服務方面, 也算有禮貌, 有問必答, 不過卻說不上殷勤. 總的說, 與預期中有點出入, 食物味道不是城中最地道的, 而且質素也只是一般而已. 價錢雖然便宜, 但份量卻偏少, 要多點幾款才夠吃! 吃過其他重慶大廈咖喱店的友人也認為, 這裡的食物質素不比其他的好. 所以, 就算下次再闖重慶的話, 也會到其他的店試試.

朋友講左好耐想去重慶食咖哩. 都唔記得上次去7E 係幾耐之前. 應該都有2 年了...一向都不太喜歡行經龍蛇混雜既重慶大.一入去同幾年前一樣…一堆人走埋黎比卡片叫你去幾多樓既餐廳…因為我去過只係一間所以都唔想去其他了…直上7E .間隔雖然同以前一樣.但明顯裝修o左乾淨o左. 仲發現原來佢係有私人房的. 薄餅係一定要叫既. 今次兩個人叫左一份洋蔥一份芝士.水準無變.不過好似油左D.呢期鍾意食魚.叫左個fish madras. 因為不食太spicy.呢個不太重口味而且偏香甜.chicken makhai 店員話係最多人叫的.呢個較重香料.都係唔spicy 既. 店員比左張會員卡我地.填好有 8折 原本覺得有點貴即時低晒

有天友人跟我説他有相熟的咖喱餐廳可以介紹, 那我就相信他跑來這裡一趟了吃吃看。首先, 奉送印度脆薄餅, 有點芝麻胡椒香, 微辣, 烘至乾脆, 是個很不錯的餐前小吃。然後, 要了一份咖喱羊。羊件炆至熟透, 肉質軟化, 不知怎的, 印度式或巴基斯坦式做法的羊肉, 做得都是如此的淋滑可口的, 如此美味的。可是咖喱汁卻又是另一回事! 這個咖哩汁, 沒有印度咖喱應有的香料味, 當然連masala式的椰奶香也沒有, 辣度一般, 整體欠缺惹味, 這個咖哩未免太過稀了。之後是友人推介的香料雞。這個比較好, 香料味較重, 帶甜。雞件嫰滑, 但沒甚雞味。最後還點了我喜歡的印度炒飯。可惜未夠乾身, 印度飯未做到粒粒分明。而且調味也不夠, 沒有層次, 鬆散, 實在是一個欠缺誠意之作。再説, 服務員都一副不愁沒事做的態度, 所以這樣的, 一次便足夠了!!
