I still prefer Cali-Mex's burritos, but Little Burro does just fine if you need a fix.To compare the two:FILLINGS: Their chicken lacks the flavour punch that Cali-Mex has (not sure which spices are missing.) However, the fajita veggie burrito is a good option if you're into that #GuacLife. SIZE: Their regular size is smaller than Cali-Mex, so if you don't share my upbringing of consuming 1000+ calorie burritos in one sitting, the portion here might suit you better. The space is tiny but I notice it's still a popular place for office folks to eat-in anyways. Table turnover seems to be quick so you might be lucky grabbing a spot during peak lunch. Love the hip-hop/reggaeton playlist they always seem to be playing whenever I visit. continue reading

Nicepops are now available at Little burro. This brand has been in HK for quite a while but the flavours they had before did not interest me and I normally get my icelolly cravings from Icelicous or Lolas.I finally tried it because of the green apple and cucumber iced tea flavour. It was soothingly refreshing because of the cucumber and apple tones yet it was not too sweet. continue reading

Ok first, this review is geared towards those who already enjoy and appreciate Chipotle's restaurants in the States, those who crave the fresh and flavorful Tex-Mex combinations mostly absent from the HK foody scene. Summary: if you're Jones'n for Chipotle's, this is a great place to eat!I ordered the rice bowl with my choice of filling, rice/beans, and salsa.  For me, I'm a barbacoa fan.  I also asked to add peppers and onions to my bowl - i.e. fajita bowl. The cilantro rice was quite good, I enjoyed the fresh lettuce and corn salsa too. But the barbacoa was spot on. If I had any complaints, it would be that my rice bowl could have had a little more salt. So, if you enjoy fresh, flavorful Tex-Mex, or you're craving a Chipotle's fix, don't walk, run to your nearest Little Burro (hey, do I get my free rice bowl now? ;-) continue reading

Hungry after work and planning an evening run I wanted something quick, satisfying and full of fuel. I headed for soho as I remembered there being two Mexican places near by and some combination of rice and beans seemed to fit my requirements perfectly. The menu here is a step-by-step build your own:1. Choose either burrito, salad, tacos or rice bowl. 2. Choose your filling, pork, beef, chicken or black bean and guacamole3. Select your beans, beans with bacon or black beans and select your rice, lime rice or brown rice4. Finally select a sauce, mild, medium or spicy4b. You have the option of getting some additional toppings/fillingsThe prep time was super short as I was the only customer ordering at that point and the service was ok but a little over familiar (a gaggle of barely-older-than-teenage boys being a little flirty), but at least they seemed happy and attentive which was nice. I walked down to the harbour to enjoy my meal (super easy what with the raised walkway taking me all the way from Little Burro through the IFC mall and right down to the water. The density and weight of the rice bowl was really promising, I couldn't wait to start eating. The bowl was loaded with rice, beans, veggies, (lettuce, sweetcorn, peppers), guacamole and a little cheese. It was a little difficult to get down to the rice layer at first but once penetrated, the rice went wonderfully with all the ingredients, a real, wholesome, belly-filling kind of taste. If I had any criticisms it would be that the sour cream and cheese were kind of flavourless and for that quality $75 is a little steep, (I would say $50 is a very reasonable price and I'd be happy to pay $60.). However, it did the trick and filled me up for my run.  continue reading
