During my month of living in Kwun Tong after recently relocating to Hong Kong, I was spending long hours adjusting to my job and commuting back and forth to the Island to find a flat. There were some nights that I just wanted to grab some quick takeaway near my hotel and crash in front of the TV. More Food & Creation serviced that need perfectly.
Conveniently situated between Kwun Tong’s growing business district and the Ngau Tau Kok MTR station, this restaurant is modern, bright, airy, and offers light and delicious Thai and Western options for dine in and takeout. The owner/operators speak great English, which is a rarity in this area, and are happy to make suggestions.
My first order here was a Thai green curry with chicken. It was prepared quickly and expertly and, when I arrived back at my hotel, ready to chow down, I was floored by the huge portion size. While the curry itself was thin in consistency, it was full of flavor, fresh vegetables, and large pieces of white meat. I had so much leftover that I easily made lunch and a small snack from the extra.
The next time I went to More, the owner recommended the prawn pad thai. The noodle dish, while not as impressive in size, was full of large, succulent shrimp, perfectly cooked noodles, and lovely garnishes of fresh basil and mint, crushed peanuts, and juicy lime wedges.
Service is great and the owners clearly know how to cater to both local and Western tastes. While I waited for my food on a particularly hot night they invited inside (rather than standing in front of the takeaway window), offered me cold water, and even asked questions to better tailor the dish to my tastes (extra spicy, please!)
So, the best Thai food ever? Probably not. But outstanding for the area, for sure. I can’t wait to go back and try their set lunch.
