We were in the area at just before 6pm, looking for a quick bite before a late dinner that night. From the outside, we saw a few members of staff sitting by a big table, looking like they were on a break and maybe a couple of staff members behind the bar. The sliding doors were fully open.We stepped in and asked to be seated, only to be told that they open for dinner at 6pm. We stepped in and asked to be seated, only to be told that they open for dinner at 6pm. To be fair it was about 5:57pm then, so strictly speaking before their 6pm start. We looked around and there was no queue and not many people around the area so it was unlikely that they would be pushed to seat walk-ins like ourselves once the clock struck 6pm. A little perplexed we nevertheless asked if we could take a seat first as it was almost 6pm (as we were carrying a few heavy bags), but the staff member (presumably the manager) simply repeated that they were not open and will open at 6pm. By this stage it was possibly about 5:58pm if not even closer to 6pm. Annoyed we walked off.
I get that staff deserve and are entitled to their break. I get starting at 6pm means just that too. But given the situation, with literally 2 or 3 minutes until you start your dinner shift and with customers wanting to patron your restaurant, which is not short on tables at that precise moment, surely a more sensible response would be to politely explain to your customers that they may need to wait a few minutes to order but to seat them and perhaps offer them a glass of water, until you and your staff are ready. Why choose the less desirable option to turn people away upset as it shows that you clearly do not value their business.
I can't comment on the food here as obviously I never got to try it. That said, decent pizza is not overly difficult to find in HK and unless this place is literally heads and shoulders above the competition, which I have not heard so, I doubt I am really missing much.
Definitely won't be back and have warned friends to steer clear of this place. The only saving grace is that I didn't have to pay for poor service, I got all that for free.
