Went here Saturday noontime and everything was great. We've eaten in nice restaurants before and usually we can nitpick some things here and there. But honestly there was nothing to nitpick here. Recommendations
Coffee, cakes (delicious), cream based dishes, and pastas (if you like al dente) though frankly everything we tried was really excellent.
I'm not a coffee drinker nor a sweets fan, but both were excellent.

Recommendations
We each ordered a set lunch though I am not sure if the set lunch changes daily. If not you cannot go wrong with the Mushroom Truffle Risotto. It was excellent and paired with the cream of mushroom starter, this was better than any mushroom set I've ever eaten (including homemade and in other expensive restaurants).

At the end there was a choice of Coconut-Mango Mousse or blueberry cheesecake. Surprisingly both were excellent in its own right.

It's location, food and price made this an excellent dining experience. And unless you demand the best food for a relatively very cheap price, you can't go wrong with this place.

For $108HKD with no service charge you can't go wrong with the set lunch.

After a misocool dinner we headed here for desserts. I have to say I have tried their set dinner during x'mas before, and the dishes which impressed me the most were the risotto, beef, and the desserts. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves probably because it was after dinner time and this building is usually frequented by office-workers at lunch or after work periods.

After gazing at the pastry/cake cabinet and looking through the menu, we decided on three desserts plus one pastry.

Tiramisu $42
As the last tiramisu I had was the green tea version from Sha tin 18, I could not help to notice but THIS WAS WAY BETTER.
Rex's version is much more 'harder' if you will - the tiramisu is made individually in a pretty dessert glass cup, and is composed of the mascarpone cheese mixture, a single layer of coffee-scented ladyfingers and dusted with cocoa powder. The ladyfingers layer has rarely any alcohol - good for people who don't like flavours of strong alcohol, which I think almost always ruins good desserts. The coffee is also barely there - I guess this is so more people will appeal to this dessert. A friend liked the fact that there was only a hint of coffee, whilst I thought it could use a little more!

panna cotta $42
This panna cotta was served in the same glass cup as the tiramisu. It had a dollop of coffee 'cream' on top of a milky-white orange-scented panna cotta. It was probably not so visually stunning as panna cottas I have had before due to the coffee cream and lack of fruits for decoration, but is certainly the best. The coffee cream itself is quite strong so take a little with each spoon of panna cotta. Rex's panna cotta doesn't take the usual vanilla bean flavoured version but smartly uses a hint of orange for flavour which paired with the coffee perfectly - reminded me of Starbuck's Valentia syrup in cappuccinos/lattes!

Strawberry Napoleon $36
This was assembled to order because they were not displayed at the pastry/cake glass cabinet inside the restaurant. As in the photo, there is three layers of pastry, with little piped custard between and sliced strawberries on the top only. Whilst I thought it was acceptable I didn't love it because the custard was too sweet, had a lack of that buttery vanilla flavour like Fine Foods, and the pastry hardly crisp enough for the fork to 'break' through! Also, I though they could have used more custard and more fruit between the layers of pastry so it would taste and feel much better in the mouth.

Hazelnut pastry roll $16
This pastry tasted more like a cinnamon roll, but made with puff pastry. I couldn't 'find' the taste of hazelnuts anywhere? Anyway, I think it would have been much better if it had been consumed at room temperature, or toasted in the oven rather than being microwaved. The pastry had become soggy from the microwaving and so I cannot assess this pastry fairly and have to say it was bad. Take-out would probably have been better as you can re-heat it in a toaster/oven.

I think Rex's desserts were on the whole quite good. I just think their custard recipe may need to be tweaked, as well as their wait-staff need to learn how to handle pastries!

My boyfriend and I had a truly amazing Valentine’s Day dinner here with another couple. 3/4 of us had been to @rex before for their famous coffee, which is by Antica Tostatura Triestina but only my boyfriend had tasted their food before. He had a weekday lunch here one time and insisted on this place over the usual destinations we would have picked for Valentine’s Day.
His neck was on the line but everything turned out to be above expectation. Throughout the course of dinner, I learned that both the chef and the barista at @rex were specially trained in Italy for 3 month and that the chef use to work at Caprice, Four Seasons, so no wonder!
*All of us had the 5 course Valentine’s Day Special Dinner Set. I saw another table order Ala Carte so I guess you can choose to have the set or not.
*Complementary mimosas (orange juice with Italian sparking wine)
*The foie gras melts in your mouth and the sourness of the blueberry sauce was a nice complement to the fattiness of the foie. Scallop was a bit overcooked for my taste.

*Best dish of the night and probably the best seafood based soup I have ever had. Super flavorful with many large chunks of crab meat
*What pasta tastes like in Italy! Al dente, flavorful, perfect…I would gladly eat this alone for dinner.
*Good and I really liked how crispy the skin was but compared to the other courses, it wasn’t that special.
*I don’t eat lamb but the boyfriend cleaned his plate and said it was really juicy and crispy on the edges. He said the dish was as good as he had in New York and Australia.
*Sable with vanilla ice cream, passion fruit chocolate mousse, strawberry napoleon. I didn’t care for the sable with ice cream due to the lack in originality but my boyfriend really liked it. I guess it works if you want something very traditional. The mousse was my favorite. The combination of flavors was interesting and it had a smooth and creamy texture. I didn’t get to taste the napoleon but our friends said it was good.
I would definitely come back to try out the entrees on their regular menu. Boyfriend said the pizzas are good.

我就叫左個洋葱湯, 個湯有好多洋葱, 味道唔算太濃, 有清新感覺, 好味

Main 我叫左法式油浸鴨腿, 店員話個鴨腿係用法式油浸再用漫火燴好幾個鐘頭而成,
食落去鴨腿無我想像中油利, 肉好有質感, 好有鴨腿香味, 比想像中好味, 值得讚賞


試了友人既( 南瓜湯 + 蜆肉意粉 )
南瓜湯味道較濃, 好重南瓜味, 睇得出係用好多料去煲果隻, 友人都話好好味!!
蜆肉意粉味道都唔错, 蜆肉都好新鲜, 好清新


由於趕時間shop, 都忙記左影多d相放上嚟,
不過我下次DAYOFF都一定會再去, 到時再影多d上比大家分享~~

放工和朋友短聚, 選了這間位於我們中間點又未試過的咖啡室. 因為最近戒了咖啡, 又不想喝凍飲, 熱朱古力似乎是唯一選擇.因為時間尚早(6:30pm而已), 晚飯的客人還未到, 故客人只我們2人. 招呼我們的女侍應和後來替我們落單的男侍應都很有禮貌. 現時的年輕人都不太專注自己的工作, 尤其做服務性行業的, 故相信店主在挑選和訓練員工方面應下了功夫, 此點值得讚賞.很快侍應便端上2杯熱黱黱的朱古力, 我和朋友都急不及待喝一口嘗嘗. 很濃郁的朱古力味, 又不會過甜, 比起我在其他地方喝過看的都好. 但不知何解, 朱古力好像特別容易擱涼, 我們都趁熱快快把它喝完.下次有機會定來這裏試試午餐!

大概12:15來到,已有幾檯坐了客人。店員安排了我們坐較近窗口的位置,環境都幾舒服的。店員給了我們meun,set lunch既main course都有幾多款選擇,另外可以選cake or coffee,又可以加 $10 有cappuccino。最後我們要了Seafood Risotto,另外還有一款Spring Chicken with onion potato & french bean(大概係咁),我們每人要了不同的soup,我試了比較清淡的onion soup,有很多洋蔥,不算很濃,朋友要了pumpkin cream soup,佢自己鍾意南瓜,所以覺得幾好飲。南瓜味好濃唔會好甜亦唔會漏,唔錯!我下次應該會try pumpkin。是日的main course seafood risotto,幾creamy,因為有很多海鮮,很有口感。可能有食唔慣正宗risotto既人會覺得d飯比較硬,不過對我黎講當然冇問題啦=]朋友既spring chicken都烤得非常香,portion好大,不錯不錯。

First time came @rex caffe for my lunch !Order spaghetti carbonara & mushroom soup!But spaghetti too soft & sauce too thick,like scrambled egg w spaghetti!Mushroom soup just okay,but mushroom taste only passed,may be for lunch set add much water! After order a piece of cake,also dry taste,may be store a long time to serve!That's why here so quite!Last,i try the espresso,good for this!May be the coffee beans is good by Antica company provide!I will be back,but only coffee!

First time came @rex caffe for my lunch !

Order spaghetti carbonara & mushroom soup!
But spaghetti too soft & sauce too thick,like scrambled egg w spaghetti!

由於本小姐在中環區工作,很多時都會經過此@rex caffe,自己和同事都對這兒的午餐評價十分高所以一直都很想試晚餐,但一直未有機會去試,終於星期天和老公結婚二周年之下,終可一嘗這兒的意大利晚餐.一進店內,店員很快安排我們坐下,可能今天是星期天,整間餐廳食客不太多,令整個氣氛十分舒適,在店員推介下,分別點了Pork sirlon Escalope with mushroom on bruschetta , Spagetti with Pancetta & Eggs"Carbonara Way", white bean & Rosemary Soup.及在店員推介下點了一杯意大利紅酒.店員先來了湯和紅酒,湯的豆味非常濃郁,試得出用很多豆去磨碎及煲至杰身,這是看得出的第一個誠意,老公再試紅酒.他說不過不失,以價錢來說$60一杯,他覺得是物有所值的了.再來是主菜.先說Pork sirlon Escalope with mushroom on bruschetta ,賣相特別,一吃之下豬肉相當有肉味,不像街外吃到的"死實實",一問經理之下原來是選用極及黑豚肉去製作所以肉味相當特出,連面包同

老公就點了Spagetti with Pancetta & Eggs"Carbonara Way",賣相吸引,蛋汁把所有意粉剛剛好包圍哂,佢就話呢個意粉係食過比較出色既一款,因為蛋味好夠而且口感濕潤唔會太乾身.再詢問經理原來係用意大利雞蛋製作,唔怪得蛋味咁濃啦,真係第二個誠意啦.
最後就當然試埋呢度d咖啡啦,雖然我唔係咁懂得欣賞咖啡,但對於我黎講,杯上面d花拉得好靚之餘,成杯都好滑好順口,佢地咁有heart去整呢杯咖啡,我當然飲哂佢啦

總括黎講,呢餐食得好滿足,老公同我都希望下次有機會再黎試下其他菜式
