For a sunday light brunch K and I came here, as we were in IFC earlier and this seemed to be close enough. We both ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon (poached eggs with hollandaise sauce on focaccia bread) ($65), and a soy cappuccino ($3x) for K. I'm unsure whether the photo above is clear, but the 'hollandaise sauce' was not exactly hollandaise... it was a yellowish goey substance on top of the eggs. It became apparent after it sat a couple minutes that they had used cornstarch to make the hollandaise.... which is wrong, and did not make for a better version of the traditional emulsion of yolks and butter at all. Honestly, the real hollandaise sauce is the best of its form, otherwise people wouldn't continue to serve it on their menus...so why mess with a good thing? The poached eggs were done nicely, to a soft liquid centre, and the smoked salmon was a passing grade. But the focaccia under wasn't very fresh and overall this dish was a disappointment.
K's cappuccino made with soya milk was, according to her, pretty good.
From previous experience, @rex caffe's dinner is not bad, but they really got to fix their breakfast items if they want to open for breakfast as well. If you'd like western breakfast in central on a sunday I'd suggest hiking up Soho to green waffle diner instead!
