Mad for silky soft tofu @ Sakura

Sadly this shop is soon going to be relocated to Daaimeidook and they only serve chilled products so I could only order the tofu.I really wanted to try the eel liver soup but they do not do soup any more.In the end I ordered the tofu in seaweed sauce.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Tofu in seaweed sauce:The tofu was really nice and silky and the seaweed sauce gave it some gentle flavour without over powering the tofu.The seaweed sauce had a strong umami taste★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Sakura Japanese world serenity in Sai Kung

Stumbled across this private Japanese restaurant after having dinner. It is located above a Japanese shop selling Japanese items.Last time I was at this shop, the shopkeeper did not mention there was a private restaurant above so I never found out about it.Anyway, they had a variety of desserts so I just went in for desserts.The décor was quite nice, I had the same feeling as I walked into Revolution because it was quite different to other restaurants and I had already dreamt of dining in a rest

Stumbled across this private Japanese restaurant after having dinner. It is located above a Japanese shop selling Japanese items.

Last time I was at this shop, the shopkeeper did not mention there was a private restaurant above so I never found out about it.

Anyway, they had a variety of desserts so I just went in for desserts.

The décor was quite nice, I had the same feeling as I walked into Revolution because it was quite different to other restaurants and I had already dreamt of dining in a restaurant like this so it was a bit weird.

There were basically five desserts on the menu: Milk pudding, tofu pudding, coffee jelly, caramel pudding and Fuji apple jelly.

 I was tempted to try the apple jelly but I had a feeling it would taste artificial so I got the coffee jelly and milk pudding.
After I had the two puddings I decided to get the tofu pudding as well because I was too lazy to dine here again.

The desserts reminded me of the desserts at Wasakuraya in Happy Valley.

Apart from desserts they had rice sets and sashimi.

The appearance of it was lumpy, most probably because the surface of the mold was lumpy.

 The coffee jelly on its own without adding cream or syrup was really bitter.
It tasted exactly like black coffee made into jelly. The jelly was the firm type.
The tiny metal jug of cream was really cute and after mixing the cream and syrup the coffee jelly tasted nice.

 The tofu pudding was the best, the texture was interesting, it dissolved into liquid when you put it in your mouth.
I tried it without adding the black sugar syrup and it was savoury. I also tried the syrup and it was really nice too.

    這裡的店員和侍者都親切有禮，絕不吝嗇向客人展示笑容。對我們在店內四處「獵影」，更是無任歡迎。縱然我們擾攘了一陣才開始點菜，侍者非但沒有擺出不耐煩的架勢，更是耐心地等待我們的示意。這就是我所要求的餐廳待客之道嘛!

     菜式介紹

    私房菜館的牆上掛了一塊大黑板，餐牌就直接以粉筆寫在上面。Sakura有沙律($48-$78)、刺身($160)、燒物($48-$198)、炸物($28-$68)、烏冬($88)、飯($68-$168)、甜品($28-$42)和飲品($22-$38)等八類食物供應。根據店內的介紹，知道這裡以鰻魚飯($198)、茶美豚飯($168)、松葉蟹腳烏冬($88)為推介食品。因為來Sakura之前，胃納已有八分滿，為免浪費食物只點了串炸黑豚腩($38)、燒原條茄子($58)、牛奶布丁($42)、黑糖豆腐布丁($32)和蜂蜜啫喱($28)等幾款食品。

    推介菜式

    黑糖豆腐布丁 ─ 這塊方圓方圓的豆腐布丁，外型光滑可愛。雖然不是以鮮磨豆漿所製，但是吃起來卻豆味不缺又滑溜非常，令人有吃日本豆腐的錯覺。據聞這裡的豆腐布丁，是以九洲純豆乳粉，混和室戶海洋深層水所製而成。當布丁往嘴裡送後，隨即溶為香滑豆漿，感覺上比街上買到的豆漿更稠。布丁本身沒有甜味，只靠黑糖漿添上微甜。這款甜品是清新可喜的!

     牛奶布丁 ─ 這款布丁的外型，比不上豆腐布丁的可愛，是很傳統的布丁模樣。據知這款布丁，是以九州霧島牛乳所製，頗有奶香而且質感也非常滑，味道也不太甜，給我一個不錯的印象。然而好雖好，卻只屬中上水準。因為稠度略嫌稍弱，未能有細滑乳香縈迴於舌面的動人口感，所以未至於叫人特別驚喜。

     串炸黑豚腩 ─ 三塊不小的炸黑豚腩肉，薄薄一層的炸漿裹在肉面之上，吃起來很是乾脆，毫無膩感。那片黑豚腩肉，經油炸之後，肉香特別誘人。想不到這裡的炸物，竟有不錯的質素。

     感覺一般的菜式

    蜂蜜啫喱 ─ 單以賣相而論，這杯蜂蜜啫喱可謂幾款甜品之中，最出色的一款。透明的杯子在陽光下滲出金黃色的亮麗，就如金色香檳一樣的燦爛悅目。所謂的啫喱，其實是條條的透明竘蒻。吃著第一口所給我的感覺，是難得的花香蜂蜜滋味，是清新而不落俗套的幽香。那種香味，配合著淡淡的甜味，很易激起叫人稱讚的衝動。可惜吃過第三口之後，這股清新幽香卻不幸地被「藥水味」所污染，叫人不無失望。

     燒原條茄子 ─ 等了十五分鐘才出場的燒茄子，本是叫人非常期待的一款菜式。可是吃不出燒茄子的香味，味道就像是吃著煮茄子一樣，質感雖軟但水份太多。出色的就只有茄子上面的木魚碎，較一般吃到的更有魚香和鮮甜。

     這家日式私房菜館雖然不是獨沽一味的賣甜品，可是試過以後就讓我覺得這裡的甜品還是較為出色。然而整體感覺，還是令人樂於欣賞的!當天下半段的「食運」，總算沒有壞到一敗塗地。

      can be arranged if booking in advance.

      For my lunch, I tried the Grilled Eel Rice and it is NO ordinary like those you get from any so-called Japanese
      Restaurants. It tasted really high quality without fishy smell.
      The sauce was original and just good balance ~ not too sweet or salty.
      The lunch set costed $78 but I was told that the eel itself costed $30 to the kitchen.

      I also tried its dessert ~ Coffee Puding ($30), not as good as I expected but its OK to try.

      NO extra (10%) service charge. The waitress is friendly.

      Other Info. : Its good to go on weekdays for relax especially on sunny days if sitting near the bay window for the Sai Kung harbour view. You may also enjoy shopping its fancy items imported directly from Japan as selected by the shop owner herself.
