this is potentially a very nice and pleasant spot for drinking and relaxing. Unfortunately, as others reviewers also reported, the "management" sucks. The last time I went to Soho corner I was with friends, and we ordered some beers and cocktails. It was 8:55, so it was still "happy hour". Understandably, the waitress needed a few minutes to prepare everything. When she gave us drinks, it was 9:03, which means "happy hour" was ended, and we were charged with full prices. That is ridiculous, because when we ordered it was happy hour. I complained, not for the few dollars difference, but because we were being fooled. The waitress was embarassed and she said that the manager told her to do so. Then, I spoke to the manager, I explained all to him but he still did not want to give us our change. I asked him "are you kidding me", and he stared at me and said "no" 😂. What an idiot. Is this a "manager"? Well, then never again, I will be happy to buy drinks at a fraction price in the 7/11 just opposite. Please, avoid this place like the plague. continue reading

I went there for a beer with a friend. We ordered 2 pint of beer. After sitting for 30 minutes , a female waiter came to see us and asked if we wanted some more drinks. We refused because we still had not finished. The waiter said, we need to make some place .WHAT !??than she said we are not drinking anymore so we have to leave . But my friend pint is still more than half full . I just could not believe what she said . But she know me cuz i go there many times before on sunday afternoon . Than she said i am sorry it's my manager ask me to do this .So than the manager arrived .it is the first time of my life i hear that you are allow to stay in a bar only 30 minutes per beer .than i said bring me an other pint than if this is the matter . he give me attitude and refuse to served me . he came out with story like "my friend are coming we need the table" . i never experience this kind of service before . but i am glad to see that this happen to other ppl too .(read: bettybluehk review) cuz really at one point i tough i was victim of discrimination . cuz the table next to us was even slower drinker than us . so if you want to relaxe from your stressfull week and want to have a beer and talk with a friend , don't go there the manager will screw up your night . continue reading

I am a local HK person and obviously I have a HK face too. But I don't know if it really has something to do with tonite's service quality. Of course I hope not! However, I still feel that I need to show you the following review: I went there for a beer with a local female friend of mine. We set down and ordered 2 bottles of beer. After sitting for 30 minutes only, a male waiter came to see us and asked if we wanted some more drinks. We politely refused because obviously we still had not finished our own bottles. Then, the core part comes:The waiter said, "In this case I am sorry but we need to make some space". I looked around and see there were plenty of seats available. Some customers even arrived way before us and the waiter only came to "invite" my friend and I to go away! But at the same moment my friend received a call and we had to join some other people. Therefore we left the bar without arguing with him. However, the most important point is : My friend and I were the only Chinese-face customers in the bar and we chatted between us in Cantonese (at low volume), while other customers were all white. I don't know if it is really the reason for this "special invitation to leave the place". But if so, shame on this Soho Corner. continue reading

Counter, Fish & Chips Please, Stay in, Becasue of the Szechuan Earthquake, I don't want alchol, a coke please.

thou' i don't come here as often as before, i still see myself as a regular here. and just last saturday, i brought a gf there again.this time we ordered - 1. mo mo - nepalese dumplings. meat & celery fillings with tomatoe & corriander sauce. it's my all time favourite.2. lamb curry with rice - nice as usual. the meat is tender and juicy.3. vegetable samosa - the flavor is different than before. not spicy enough and too salty. a bit disappointed.4. masala tea - i love the rich cinamon and ginger taste. i would say this one is better than veda's!too bad it's only two of us, otherwise i would've ordered fish n'chips or chicken with potatoe wedges... and even warm chocolate pudding!! it's an open corner. a tiny place with no air con. but the owner is very nice and it's a good place to hang out with a friend or two.. with ciggie and/or beer in hand continue reading
