Got these at the PMQ and they costs more than buying them at the shop.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★SPY-DA:Soft shell crab dusted with 5 signature spices, cucumber and lettuce. The spices were not really strong so I liked it because I could taste the crabmeat as well as the soft shell crab.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎The bill: $3XService: OKService charge: noYummy factor: okNapkins provided: yesToilets: OKPortion sizes: smallNoise levels: NoneGlass of water provided: NoEnglish Menu: YesAir Conditioning: YesMusic Levels: Yes◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎ continue reading

I peeked at the night market at the Police Military Quarters that's been so heavily advertized around town. I can't say I got much out of it besides a desire to try this place some time (they had a booth there). So for lunch on a rainy Friday we braved the elements and gave it a go.We got sets that come with 2 rolls, soup or beverage, and beans or seaweed salad. I just got a coke but my wife had the miso. "Totally standard," she says. She also got the Edamame. Same deal. You're getting exactly what you think you're getting.I went with the seaweed salad and I thought it was actually really good. Not at all rubbery, crisp, fresh, well-flavored and a hint of fishiness. We split the four rolls we got. I ordered the bibimbap one and the crab one. It's dumb name was "Spy Da" but I don't think I remember the dumb names of the other rolls, and thus won't try to reproduce them here.Crab roll: had deep fried softshell crab and also some non-deep-fried crab meat. This was my second favorite of the ones we tried, and while I thought the fried crab was a little wilty and soggy, it was pretty good. BBibimbap roll: there's no crispy rice or egg. It's 'bibimbap' because it's got bulgogi flavored ground meat and tons of kochujang. Can I just say this: I don't like kochujang. Sure, it's a great ingredient, don't get me wrong-- I love kimchi and Korean soup etc. etc. But as a condiment I just happen to think it's too pungent and fermenty. I didn't finish my half of the roll. Not for everyone: C-Salmon and Avocado Roll: I liked this one best because it was plain and straightforward. I realize I'm at a trendy fusion place, but the fusion just fell flat for me. Who doesn't love avocado and salmon? Good: B+Tuna roll: not raw tuna, cooked. And mostly just tuna. My wife ordered this so the fact that the food wasn't to my liking is hardly the restaurants fault. I'm not really big on tuna sandwiches and it doesn't change things when you turn it into a sushi roll. I'll just skip the rating.Would I go here again? Yeah, sure. It was quick and efficient, and there's definitely stuff I like. Would I prefer a Korrito from K-Roll? Well, yes, that too. Rating: Average continue reading

I have no idea how I came across this place, but it was worth a visit.Environment & Hygiene:It is just one of those tiny places down Gilmans that probably caters more to the office lunch crowd. Plain decor with about 10 chairs available for sitting. Hygiene was okay.Service:The dude at the counter was friendly and told me about the combos they had. However, the phone rang right when he sat a box of food down on the counter without saying anything, so I just assumed that it was mine and hoped that I didn't take someone else's. I felt he could have said something. Taste & Value:I love softshell crab, so it wasn't hard for me to choose a roll at all.  I chose "Spy-Da" ($26), which had softshell crab, cucumbers, and shredded crabmeat. Everything about this roll was fresh, which was good. However, the softshell crab was quite small and not crispy enough. It was dusted with some spices giving it a very non oriental taste. Inside the box, was a pack of soy sauce and wasabi along with the roll. Final Verdict:I enjoyed my fresh roll, and would go back for some more for sure.  continue reading
