We thought having lunch at a 5-star hotel would surely wow us. Apparently, not. More precisely, our experience was extremely underwhelming
.

Positives (+):
- Service was great. Staff constantly added water to our teapot.
- View was absolutely gorgeous.
- Surprised that tea only cost $80, which is quite a fair price for a 5-star hotel.

Negatives (-):
Appetizers:
- Tomato salad: tomatoes tasted like they were drenched in canned tomato paste…
- Although the ham was quite good, the melon slices did not taste sweet. Actually, they tasted dehydrated, not juicy at all.

Entrees
:
- Beef cheek: tasted bland and it was not the slightest bit tender, which was such a letdown, considering that the protein should be the main star of the entire course? Moreover, the meat only screamed SALTY. Not to mention, one of us suffered from abdomen pain an hour or so after the meal.
- Halibut: as bland as the beef mentioned above, but slightly better (JUST slightly). We had to drench the entire fish with the sauce that was coupled with it just to save it from its blandness and dryness (p.s. the sauce didn’t really taste like anything, but it was better than nothing so). Guess the asparagus on the side was the only saving grace for this plate… if only this was a 3-star hotel instead.

Desserts:
- Peach with vanilla ice cream: vanilla ice cream tasted fine, was the best part of the meal. However, once again, the peaches tasted bland, exactly the same blandness as the appetizers above-mentioned. Such a letdown of the star, the peaches.
- Mille-feuille: honestly, considering how subpar the course was, this dessert was the best overall. However, this doesn’t mean that it was mind blowing. It was alright. Vanilla cream was kind of smooth, but the flavor wasn’t too apparent. Caramel sauce was too sweet for my personal liking, but the texture was quite thick so that was nice. The layers were also very crunchy so this kind of saved a fifth of the meal (maybe).

+ portions were also quite small, and we were starving afterwards.

In short, appetizers were not very fresh, entrees were very very bland with a hazard sign on one of them, and desserts were so……ordinary.

Overall, the food was extremely bland, way way way below our expectations (so mental note to ourselves: always expect less, especially when you are dining in 5-star hotels in Hong Kong). Would not recommend anyone to waste so much money on low-quality food with very subpar flavor profiles. Honestly, dining in this hotel just for the Victorian Harbour view isn’t worth anyone’s time.

— So refreshing! The Japanese white peach was incredibly sweet and went so well with the tartness of the raspberry coulis. Vanilla ice cream was tasty, and the meringue bits added a nice crunch to the dessert too.

— The seabass was well cooked with a buttery, moist texture. Loved the asparagus on the side which were really well seasoned. Personally wasn’t a fan of the milk turmeric sauce as it was a bit too sweet with an overpowering flavour to it.

— Loved this starter! The flavours were really well balanced, and it had the perfect amount of acidity to it to open up your appetite. The hamachi was fresh and nicely complemented by the pickled carrots which added a nice crunch too. The tiger sauce was flavourful with a touch of spice to elevate the flavours.

— Pretty standard, but thought the beef could’ve done with a touch more of salt. The truffle oil added a nice aroma to the dish.

— The millefeuille was really tasty but thought the presentation of this dessert can be improved as it looked a bit underwhelming and empty 😅 Taste wise though this was delicious. The puff pastry layers were extremely crispy and flaky, with a fragrant buttery aroma to it. The creme diplomat in the centre was smooth and perfectly sweetened. Loved the caramel sea salt butter between the layers which added a nice touch of savouriness to balance out the sweetness of the caramel.

四款鹹點面包都好好食,吾會令人覺得「又係包啊?!」依種感覺。最好食嘅係鵝肝醬包,肝醬味好出,咬一啖整個口腔已經充斥焦刁鵝肝醬嘅鹹香。
食完鹹點,職員會奉送一人一杯檸檬雪芭,清理口味嘅味道,然後先食甜點。檸檬雪芭充滿住檸檬香,加埋面頭嘅少量檸檬皮一齊食,好出色。我自己略厭覺得有少少甜,只係個人口味偏淡。
甜品方面,我個人覺得比起初期剛開業,係有改善到,有進步咗。今次嘅甜品係好食嘅,冇之前咁死甜。個人認為最好食嘅係梨朱古力榛子甜點,上層係用梨整成嘅啫喱,下層係朱古力榛子蛋糕,好夾。

Relaxing atmosphere with harbour view but the sweets weren’t that impressive after all. Savoury was good especially the egg sandwich. Nice texture so handsup for this. Was eager to try their sweets after hearing a lot about the chef. Was disappointed because the lavender & guava thing doesn’t match well. Scones & madeleine were good. Texture not to my liking…too much mousse for the sweets. The cold brewed tea was ok.

Really enjoyed the finger sandwiches and the madeleine as well as the mesmerising views and the cozy setting. The pastries were flavorful and not too sweet for me. The scones were buttery, but a bit on the overly crumbly side. Service was OK. Would expect more.

酒店的房間還沒正式開放預訂,餐廳則率先開幕,包括The Steak House (扒房)Harbourside 港畔餐廳 (自助餐)The Lobby Lounge 大堂酒廊,還有於翻新期間維持營業的麗晶軒(前欣圖軒)
The Lobby Lounge設有早餐、下午茶、晚餐時段,分別是10:00-12:00、12:00-18:00、18:00-00:00
每月1號的10:00,開放未來兩個月的預約
由於空間很大,座位滿多,所以未至於太難預約,甚至walk-in也應該有位置

The Steak House、Harbourside、麗晶軒均位於酒店地下,與星光大道成水平,用餐時可以欣賞海景還有星光大道上的熙來攘往
身處高一層的酒店大堂則可以以較高視角眺望維港,可以避過星光大道的人流

整體味道不錯,甜點部分不會太甜膩;鬆餅跟瑪德蓮都不能添加有點可惜
服務則有進步空間,感覺店員們可以更友善一點,這邊有點失色,不過會間中為茶壺添熱水🫖

最喜歡的是〔蟹肉牛油果〕,一絲絲鮮甜蟹肉太吸引
另外〔玉子配魚子醬〕也很不錯,玉子質感像布丁一樣滑嫩,還搭配矜貴的魚子醬

而這個下午茶套餐則提供每位三款甜點
本來應該兩位都是一樣的款式,但由於我們其中一人有飲食禁忌,所以餐廳很貼心的準備了另外三款
每一款都美味可口,而且不會過於甜膩,很不錯
吃一口蛋糕,喝一口熱茶,再欣賞一下美麗的景色,非常舒適的下午茶🍵
