I've reviewed another Yogurtime a few months ago in Sheung Wan. I gave them a very honest negative review and now I'm starting to see something very surprising happen... Yogurtime shops are closing! The Sheung Wan and Mongkok location closed, according to OpenRice. Just type in and see! Maybe our OpenRice Reviews actually do matter?
Whoever opened this Yogurtime in East Point City is stuck with a consistently poor taste and texture yogurt that I have experienced at other Yogurtime shops. I have commented on Yogurtime yogurt in detail before, so this time I will just say that the yogurt here was the consistently icy, ice-chunk and watery texture that, for me, makes it the 2nd worst froyo I've had in Hong Kong. With the amount of water in this yogurt, it would obviously not fulfill the minimum amount of yogurt that would qualify for live and active yogurt cultures that is required in the U.S. (where I'm from) and does not even compare to my beloved Yogurtland or Pinkberry.
I think this poor yogurt quality is partly because of the recipe and ingredients, but also partly because of the soft serve machines used, which I see at most Yogurtimes. I have seen the machines in two other yogurt shops and those shops had the similar icy, watery taste and texture. In addition to the relative cheap quality of the so-called yogurt, the amount you are given in the regular size cup is the smallest amount I have rec'd at any shop. So not only is the product poor quality, it is also poor value. quite disappointing, but consistent with my experience at other Yogurtime shops.
Hopefully, they will learn, now that they have been forced to close a few shops?
