Three-course lunch ($180) Another good find in Shin Hing Street- like Figaro right across the street, cocotte is also a small French bistro but with a more formal setting. I went there on a weekday for lunch and it was packed (reservation is a must)"!) The tuna 🐟 salad was light, refreshing and flavourful, one of the best I've had this year. 🐮 Steak was good but nothing impressive. The fries 🍟 on the side were incredibly delicious- not so oily, freshly fried, crispy on the outside... Came here with my girfriends for a saturday brunch and catch up. Ordered a seabass which came with a strong too fishy smell, poorer quality than much other restaurants that are less pretentious... Not coming back though the cafe au lait was quite nice! continue reading

I've posted my photos. Should be the latest for this restaurant. They changed chef recently so don't bother to go because the food is horrible. The staff try to put up a brave face... I actually felt sorry for them because we were just here weeks ago. How low have they fallen... yuck continue reading

COCO下午茶後,兩母子又出發往中環,赴另一場法式約會;餐廳是靠近九記牛腩的 Cocotte,身處橫街又呈半開放式的格局,的確很有法國小店的感覺。 連店內氣氛也是一樣輕鬆寫意而不拘束,帶著好動囝來,他偶爾跑出跑入,問題也不大。很不同的,是廚神對煮食的認真有要求,當日所吃的多項菜式,都深具水準,故在較晚的時間,吸引了大批老饕前來光顧。 吃法國菜,來點葡萄酒是常識吧?當然小孩例外,囝囝就乖乖吃麵包籃吧,質素都挺不錯呢。 很快的,首道 Lobster Bisque 上檯了!樸素無華的龍蝦湯味道鮮甜,一點苦味都沒有,而且份量超慷慨,兩母子一起飲也未能完全KO(當然與之前下午茶也有關係!),非常抵飲,不過並不是常設 menu 項目,想點要看運氣,又或試著訂位時預約一下~ 另一款非常設的 Burrata Cheese 更加迷死人了!超巨大的芝士破開,嫩滑的中央呈半流心,加上清甜番茄,以及橄欖油珠珠,好吃不得了;搞笑是囝囝一試,有感驚為天人,馬上跟媽媽說要整個吃,會不會太識食了啊? 然後 for sharing 的主菜 Beef "Ribeye Tournedos"(500g, $700) 也上檯了,約五成熟的肉眼肉質極嫩、肉味又香濃,我愛拌上 horseradish 醬同吃,更添滋味。同場囝囝再度食神上身,懶理粉紅色澤,試了一件後大呼好吃,要 encore 再 encore 再 encore! 除了主菜出色,$50/份的配菜也同樣有水準,特別推介 Gnnochi,每粒表層都給輕輕煎過,外層微脆特別有咬口,也獲得食神囝囝讚美及肯定。 由於有朋友不太吃牛,所以又點了 Dover Sole Meuniere ($300),煎得很棒、皮脆肉嫩的龍脷魚,單獨吃固然美味,但加上邪惡的燒牛油汁,又有另一番邪惡曼妙滋味! 很傳統的法國菜,主菜後奉上 Assiette De Fromages Beillevaire 芝士併盤 ($220),七款不同風味的芝士連同 black cherry jam、沙律及合桃上權,味道都很棒,值得芝士迷一試!(按:如果人數少/太多,也可點三款/十款芝士的併盤,彈性很大。 最後是囝囝獨享的雙色雪糕球,這次到甜魔媽媽忍不住要分享一口,才發現朱古力非常香濃好吃啊!!! 據知餐廳復活節期間,舉辦了獎品豐富的 Egg-hunting 遊戲,可惜假期太忙、未能帶兩兄妹去玩,或者找個星期天有空,再一起去嘆Sunday Brunch吧~ continue reading

生得晚,在這個時代,感受不到巴黎的美..舊電影𥚃呈現的城市和人物,也許是如實寫照,不過現在看來只是偏遠的夢.今天的巴黎一點也不可愛,其中餐飲服務業者態度,更令人恨得牙癢;或者你會説巴黎人本該酷酷,對不起,如何界定巴黎人涉及到形而上的層面,而簡單説來臭臉跟裝酷完全是兩回事.是夜餐聚,曾經留法的朋友選了Cocotte,她對巴黎情有獨鍾,彷彿第二家鄉,即使是變調的味道,也是美好.步出上環地鐵站,經過迂迴的路徑,終於找到位於善慶街的小店,幾位外藉女仕在門㾿品酒抽煙,大門趟開,濃烈瘀味飄進室內.餐廳不大,廿來座位;佈置骨仔裝潢歐陸,其中特別喜歡花紋壁紙的配搭,滿有時尚感,首個印象不差.我們選了支白酒,兩份Discovery Menu(@$390),另散點小吃和主菜.Bourgogne Aligoté, Roux Père et Flls 2011($400),Pinot Noir混合葡萄釀製,dry而不失芳香,配合三文魚料理,還算理想.36 months Bellota Ham($120)-咸香Bellota,伴以少許羅文生菜.Mixed Tapas Platter($330)-Tapenade, eggplant caviar, tarama, cheese, Bellota cuts 3款火腿,兩款芝士和幾砵dipping醬料,伴以數塊脆包片就是了,性價比值得否,見人見智.我就覺得有些不值.French Onion Soup-Caramelized ornions, croûtons, emmental cheese 洋蔥湯烹調得濃稠,味道正宗.Friseé aux Lardons-Crispy Bacon, poached egg, frisée salad 水煑蛋配脆煙肉和沙拉菜,很有健怡午餐的感覺.Filet de Bœuf, Béarnaise-Beef tenderloin, purée mousseline, salad, béarnaise 薯蓉慕斯口感幼滑味道柔和,可惜主角牛柳由medium rare弄成近乎well done令人大感意外,而再來的tenderloin側多筋,費很大嚼勁才啃下,完全沒trim過?可能廚師不滿意我們退貨,還是水準本來就是這樣..Claims & Chorizo spaghetti-Iberico chorizo, clams, tomatoes, white wine sauce 西班牙香腸,白酒蜆加茄茸,活像家庭料理,水平一般,感覺散點的餐製作較認真..Organic King Salmon ($270)-Sun-dried tomato, orzo, green asparagus velouté 三文魚煎得皮脆肉嫰,以蕃茄乾提鮮,小巧的米狀粉置底週圍淋上青露荀汁,顏色造型美觀,只是味道寡淡的露荀汁稍遜.Blue Crystal Prawn Risotto ($270)-Grilled prawns, Green Peas, parmesan, mascarpone 伴入芝士青豆的risotto置底,面佈以數枚大蝦,裝碟漂亮,蝦肉彈牙,跟米飯一起享用,口感匹配,效果理想.是夜為生日飯宴,選餐後要求店方在甜品碟上簡單寫上賀詞,不過遭到拒絕,原因是要訂座時預先說明,現在不作受理.我不解以巧克力醬畫上幾個字有多困難,回覆是㝍完要冷藏~~現在她們可以做的只有插上爉燭.於是Coconut Crémé Brûlée正中就插上爉燭一支,薄薄一層燉蛋,淡淡椰香,食味一般.Choco-Banana Tart 拒絕臨時要求,不過就能以巧克力裝飾一番..巧克力塔上佈以幾片香蕉,週圍潑上巧克力醬.塔皮偏硬,巧克力饀濃郁,味道不錯.整體晚飯感覺,套餐十分一般,散點主菜好多了也較認真;可是食物以外,服務生態度有點什麼,或缺了點什麼..就算嘴角呈笑意,眉稍眼角就是帶點不屑,是否我們帶有兩名小童?外國好些餐廳標明不接待小孩,皆因孩子們的失控吵鬧多會破壞進餐環境的安靜,所以大家訂位時最好細明,免得雙方煩惱..或許純粹個人想多了,她們不是擺面色,本來法式的服務水平表現方式就是這樣..?! continue reading
