Came here in a big group for celebration of New Year's Eve and counting down to the new year of 2019! Honestly, I truly think most of the cost of $888 + 10% per head for gala buffet ($1288 + 10% with open bar) should go to the location and balcony seats overlooking the harbour. It saved you the disaster of having to occupy some nice positions at the harbour front a few hours before mid-night given the freezing cold temperature. Here you go photos of the fireworks and the harbour view.Back to the
Back to the food itself. In short, there was not much to eat. The speed of refilling the food was also pretty slow. The quality of the food was not justified by the price.

Chilled Seafood Bar (Snow Crabs, Oysters, Prawns, Whelks, Seafood Ceviche)
I just had 3 oysters, 1 whelk and 1 sip of snow crabs. The oysters were of very good quality: pretty solid yet fresh enough. The whelk was not so good: it was too chewy. The snow crab tasted alright.

Soup, Salad & Charcuterie
Two types of greens here: rocket salad and Chef's Selection of Fresh Garden Greens. They were alright, fresh enough so they were a pass.
Soup, Salad & Charcuterie
Top: from left to right: Potato Salad, Truffle Egg Salad, Corn Coleslaw, Quinoa Salad
Bottom: from left to right: Pasta Salad, Broccoli Salad, Smoked Salmon Salad, Tomato Salad
Could these choices appeal to you? They didn't manage to do so for me. I just tried some. The best was the truffle egg salad which I encored a number of times. The smoked salmon salad with cucumber was ok. I think there could have been much better choices at such a price.
There were also terrines, parma ham and cheese platter. I tried some ham which was too rough. All of the nuts on the cheese platter was gone for my turn.

Sides (Mushroom Risotto, Roasted Cauliflower, Parmesan Creamy BBQ Corn)
The sides were much better. All of them tasted pretty good especially the mushroom risotto. The corn wasn't rich in Parmesan at all though.

There were two types of mains: Beef Casserole and Crab Cake (those on top of the plate in the second photo above). The beef casserole was just so-so and the crab cakes were just ok (they were not so hot when eaten and I didn't notice much crab meat inside). Maybe shouldn't have expected too much from crab cakes for a buffet like this.

Here you go the Carvery which offered two types: Bone in USDA Dry Rubbed Prime Rib and Five-spice Crispy Pork Belly. I only tried the former. It was better than average but I would only give it a pass given that it's a steak house restaurant so I had higher expectation. The prime rib was tender yet could have been more juicy and offered a stronger beef flavour. Their speed of refilling the prime rib was too slow. I saw long queues lining up for them a number of times.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to take a photo of their desserts, which included macaroons, apricot almond tart, tiramisu, cherry clafoutis, chocolate truffle cake and fruits platter. I basically tried all except for the tiramisu. The macaroons were so fresh and crispy yet with sufficient fruity jam/sauce inside. They were not overly sweet and I could keep eating. The chocolate truffle cake was delicious too with some (not so much though) chocolate sauce flowing out in the middle (quality good enough for buffet). Fruits platter was ok but their speed of refilling was quite slow. The fact that there were raspberries and black berries was appreciated. The cherry clafoutis and apricot almond tart were not worth trying at all.
Last but not the least, so many people had commented negatively on their bread. Their bread was huge but the crust was actually ok which was quite crispy despite eaten cold. The interior of the bread was quite bad though - there was basically nothing much inside.
To recap, there was not much to eat. The speed of refilling the food was also pretty slow. The quality of the food was not justified by the price. However, they had set up a dancing floor in the middle with a live band and a few dancers came over in the middle. The environment was really really good. So as I said, most of the cost went to the location and environment for such an evening. Don't expect much from the food.
Unforgettable indeed.
