To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 約了朋友一行三人來飲中午茶,吃些潮州食品。訂了檯從接待處拿了一張寫了檯號的字條往內廳,由於待應不足,沒有人招待你,自已找座,找到坐下等開茶。茶來上了一碟潮式前菜,份量不少,內有青瓜、豆乾、木耳,花生和鹹酸菜,配上酸酸甜甜的醬汁,味道不錯。夏天炎熱,叫了碗蠔仔肉碎粥吃,粥內有很多肉碎,蠔仔漲卜卜,又有柴魚絲,增加了鹹香味,米粒軟硬適中,整體容易吃。潮州粉果,一籠四隻,餡料足,餃皮有黏性易咬開。煎蠔烙,一大塊蛋餅內包含軟軟滑滑的蠔肉,有蛋香蔥香,邊界位置煎得焦香。牛肉腸粉,一碟三條,面層油油光光,內層牛肉滿滿,口感既滑又充實。香脆魷魚鬚,這個小食用了一個網架盛載,內放了吸油紙,賣相西化。魷魚上的粉漿不多,入口未夠脆口,略為偏向軟身,因為口感不佳,這個小吃沒有吃光。幾款食品中除了魷魚鬚外,其他都滿意,前菜更是整碟吃光光。
