Finally able to eat brunch here at Barista by Givres. I’ve always wanted to try their avocado rose toast.

Two medium sized pieces of sourdough with a generous slather of their house made beetroot hummus and a beautiful pair of avocado rose.
Before I get started on the taste, I would like to say that there was a tiny bug (the ones you usually find on books) on one the of edible flower which immediately made me scared but I didn’t want to cause a disturbance so just picked it off my plate. But the restaurant should be more attentive to their food decor.
On a more positive note, the toast is delicious. The hummus is nutty and bright, but would taste better is it was colder. It tastes of a really mild hummus with less spice and tahini. Not bad with the toast and creamy avocado.
In addition, the avocado is perfectly ripened, pliable under the knife but not mushy and brown. I also cannot taste lemon so it was definitely freshly prepared without the use of preservation.
The Dukkah is pretty underwhelming with a few pieces of pistachios and a mild spice blend. The toast would have been fine without it and I just considered this an avocado toast with beet hummus 🤷♀️
Moreover, the sourdough toast is extremely crunchy and crisp but not scratches-your-mouth. Pairs well with smooth avocado that moistens it.
The portion may look quite small but it is actually very filling and satisfying. Eating this whilst sitting on the bar table, looking out is an amazing way to spend your weekend brunch.

💬 Overall, great brunch here. Only wish employees would pay more attention to hygiene and the use of their edible flowers. If I don’t get sick from the food, I’m definitely coming back.
