The restaurant itself is located inside a food court which means it is very loud, there is constant noise from people around you and the air conditioning is very strong which made the food cold quite quickly, the staff was either very attentive or not attentive at all 😬. But when they were attentive, they refilled my appetizers with haste.

I ordered their Ginseng Chicken Soup with Rice (人蔘雞湯配白飯) $85 and company ordered a bqq set.

Very long wait. The rice came first and then 10 minutes later the chicken soup came, by then, I already ate one bite of rice with kimchi and the rice became quite hard ☹️. But when the chicken soup came, it was boiling hot and steaming so my frustration instantly went away.

The rice is normal pearl white rice with a little bit of soggy seaweed on top. I expected more seaweed but it would not have made much of a difference. It was hard to separate the rice as it was quite hard and making it wait for the chicken soup made it worst. But it was okay as I was gonna add the rice to my soup anyways.

The chicken itself is very generous as it is half size. The wing and leg is surprisingly small though, but the meat came off super easily and it was very very soft 🤤. The chicken skin attached to the wings was also silky and smooth. The breast and thigh however was a little dry, it still pulled apart easy but could have been more tender. The stuffing inside was sweet rice, ginseng, jujube, chestnuts, garlic cloves and I believe, some ginko nuts. The jujubes were given generously and very sweet as well so a nice taste change from the savory soup. The ginseng were all cut up into small pieces so I kept finding ones hidden around my chicken 😅. The garlic became very soft and sweet, perfect with chicken and rice. The chestnuts also very soft but still crunchy to retain their flavor. I also love how the bones are still there so you can suck on them and eat the cartilage as well as they are filled with flavor (chinese eating am I right).

The chicken skin from my thigh and breast fell off very easily so I decided to grill it, (as company ordered a bbq set) the grilling made the skin extremely crispy and cooked off all that chicken fat. The result was a paper thin crispy chicken skin with a subtle taste of ginseng. A perfect combination with the rice, chicken meat and kimchi (also some of that kimchi egg too, which is already perfection when mixed with rice 😉). I highly recommend lightly grilling any dry chicken meat as well as it helps adds a crunchy texture and smokiness, but only if you also order a bbq set as I’m not sure if they let you use the grill if you don’t get bbq.

The soup is very flavorful and the pot helps keep it warm throughout my 1 hour meal 😜. The chicken flavor is intense and you get the ginseng in the aftertaste and if you reach the bottom, there is a lot of ginseng taste there. The ginseng isn’t too overwhelming or intense so this can be enjoyed as regular chicken soup but there is a tad ‘medicinal’ taste so it warmed the body very quickly.

I know this is not a dish but I have to talk about the kimchi egg. This additional bbq side dish is absolutely amazing. The savory and crunchy kimchi with the silky and creamy egg, you can eat this with anything and it’ll make it ten times more delicious. I had it with rice alone and I could have finished 2 more bowls 😝. You can also keep refilling it if you finish which is always a bonus. But I’m not sure if you can have this treat is you don’t get bbq set 😕 someone please tell me.

Overall, this meal was very satisfying as I slowly enjoyed my chicken soup and had 5 plates of kimchi and 3 plates of pickled radishes + 2 refills of kimchi egg 😊. The ambiance of the restaurant is a flaw you have to overlook but maybe if you request a table in the inside of the restaurant, it would be quieter. The other downside I have with this restaurant is that it’s menu selection is rather small, i don’t know if it’s because it’s lunch time but there was not a lot of lunch sets to choose from (I’m comparing with Meokbang BBQ and The Charcoal Room, 2 KBBQ places I’ve been to many times). So not that great for people who like to choose what they want to eat depending on their current mood (like I am) as I was craving things they didn’t have on the menu.
