Foodie Client birthday dinner. The owner of the resto is Client’s friend’s relative who has connection with the Ap Lei Chau seafood market. Like Saito San in Japan, owner goes to the market everyday at wee hours to choose seafood himself. Quality seafood is therefore a guarantee here. Here’s what we had.Geoduck. Here’s what we had.
Geoduck. The faint hearted preferred it lightly cooked in the broth. I prefer it raw with soy sauce and wasabi. Very fresh and crispy. The broth was a umami bomb after all the geoduck was finished.
Sea snail 花螺. Fresh and sweet. Client’s friend recommended us dipping it in the accompanying sesame oil and sweet sauce. Addictively aromatic.
Mud crabs. Also a flower crab specifically ordered to cater for Client’s partner’s dietary restrictions. I tried both and they were sweet and meaty. It would be perfect had the crab butter of the mud crabs been more buttery.
Oysters served in refreshing sour and savory broth in Sichuan style. Oysters were fresh and plump.
A quartet of fish dishes to follow. 古法蒸方利,油鹽水浸泥鯭, 豉椒炒魚扣and 豉汁蒸魚雲。The former two were incredibly delicious. Their flesh was tender and succulent.
The dessert 金菊卷 were noteworthy in that it doesn’t have the usual vanilla aroma or floury texture that one would expect. It was gelatinous and tasted peculiar. I prefer traditional custard rolls more.
Foodie Client was so meticulous that he brought wine glasses for us all to enjoy his champagne and Chardonnay! Loved the Chardonnay 🥰
Overall a resto that I would return to for quality seafood. Heard they do yum cha right too so might give that I try too!
