To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 今早又來到沙田太興吃早餐,未到十時已見人龍,幸好我們只是二人,比較容易找到座位。打開餐牌,又發現早餐價錢又漲價了。現今香港的食店不時暗地裡加一至幾元一款食物,可惜工資一年才加得一次,打工仔確實生活艱難。加價後,餐牌上多了兩款早晨推介,但價錢一點也不便宜。~人氣早餐($40)加了價仍能保持水凖。火腿米粉依然有一條青綠菜心點綴,煎雙蛋多士中規中矩,今早的柑桔蜜似乎淡了一些。~香煎雞扒滑蛋公仔麵 ($42)炒蛋是滑滑的,煎雞扒皮煎得微焦,雞肉不硬,公仔麵煮得恰到好處。雞扒麵的湯頗肥膩,幸好有青菜平衡。個人認為四十元或以上的早餐似乎是貴了一些,今後不會常常來吃了。
