「粗菜館」,名字開宗明義講明餐廳所賣的是「粗菜」,並非大魚大肉、鮑參翅肚、游水海鮮之類的貴價菜式。當然,所謂「粗菜」只是以今時今日的標準而言,其實是指一些懷舊風味小菜;如果真的全部只賣幾十年前香港勞動階層的「粗茶淡飯」式下欄餸菜,應該不會有太多人幫襯。記得多年前第一次幫襯是佐敦老店(備註:早前結業後在同一個地址又重開了,但名字開首多了兩個字,到底是否同一個老闆?),特色小炒印像深刻;多年後再度重臨,味道是否依然?去到門口,門頂那幅黑底金字的牌扁故然搶鏡,甚有電視台古裝戲內客棧飯店的風味;更大賣點卻是掛在門口左邊、裝裱起來的題字:「天下第一炒朱什 蔡瀾推薦」。蔡瀾是誰,作為香港饞咀一族,冇可能未聽過吧?雖然近十年轉趨低調,但之前卻是香港資深電影人兼食家、更是娛樂圈及傳媒界的第一代日本通。印像中「粗菜館」在20年前左右開業時,蔡瀾先生已經親筆提字推薦,但當年卻並沒有在他主持的電視節目或執筆的雜誌專欄出現;到底蔡瀾先生與「粗菜館」有什麼淵源?室內裝修陳設是典型街坊小菜館,沒有特色可言,但總算乾淨企理。雖然已經提前幾日訂位,但樓下以細枱為主,中至大枱已經坐滿了人,結果被安排坐在閣樓,估計都
