Read below and the reviews at the other shop - NO ONE even mentions that these two shops serve Fresh Chickens, which are either 清遠 or 龍崗雞. Why? Perhaps its because it didn't taste very good. This chicken was dryish, the skin was only ok crisp despite being overcooked or fried. The so-called fresh chicken, had virtually no chicken taste either. In fact, other places such as 鏞記酒家 also sells Farm Fresh Chickens, but doesn't have that much chickeny taste or freshness texture either - and take a look how many people also failed to identify that shop as selling Fresh Chickens? Someone even goes on to claim: "薄肉既地方太咸,厚肉既地方無味,一食就食得出係雪藏雞,又霉又無嚼頭". I hope that person doesn't mind me re-quoting, because I actually agree with him/her to a certain extent. In fact 鏞記 now that I've been back is just inconsistent with roasts items, same applies to their sometimes tough and tasteless Roast Goose.

As I keep saying, people all think and repeat that Fresh Chickens are better, its almost like a placebo or hysterical effect, it makes me yawn after hearing it repeated numerous times when you know its just not true. I've had some fresh chickens in both China and Hong Kong that are not good too. The reality is - it depends on too many factors.... whilst fresher ones will always have more potential, but its not necessarily the be all and end all of the equation, this world does not operate as '0' and '1's, it works from 0-100% in every single variable.


荷葉籠仔蒸飯 -

This wasn't good. I can't remember exactly which version we ordered mind you, as this was a long time agao and in fact we had more dishes than these but I only took 2 photos. I just remembered the rice failed to catch any of its top ingredients taste, but in term, it was full of MSG taste, and the rice was mushy.

Having said that, here they have another famous French DNA Based Fresh Chicken which you need to pre-order, its called 煲呔雞 and quite rare to find locally. In fact I was hoping to review this shop only when I got to try that. I might give that another go 1 day, but its nearly been a year since my last visit but I just remembered this place after reviewing its neighbour, might as well get it outta way putting it online.

Yes. Its Fresh Chicken. Pity No One noticed..
