To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 剛與一班划艇手足比賽完畢,身體自然又餓又累,得知附近有一間店可以食雞煲打邊爐,且任點其他食物,既然肚子餓得可以變成食物黑洞,還不趁現在去吃更待何時。一進門,便覺得它與其他雞煲食店無太大分別,應該也是一間只靠賣中菜維持不了收支的酒樓,唯有轉型賣雞煲、打邊爐以提高生意額。先點一個雞煲:一班手足也是剛放完聖誕新年這個長假,當然不想再吃辣,生怕身體熱氣過頭,影響健康。在服務員極力遊說下點了兩個小辣雞煲。起筷把雞肉放入口的那刻便心之不妙,「嘩!辣到佢!」手足異口同聲叫了出來,大概這店把譚仔的各種辣視作了標準。問題是,我們的口被辣得麻了,便自然想喝它提供的免費任攞汽水,胃裡都充滿了汽水又怎吃得下點來的食物?我們自然便想到剛才服務員花言巧語的遊說,是老闆算好算盤後下的指令吧!對著餐單我們便摸不着頭,怎也不明白1,2,3的意思。整桌也坐著大學生,又怎會不懂這簡單數學符號?我們不明的是服務員對他們的認知。點了某食物的「3」,有時來的是三碟,有時來的是三片,最奇怪的是有次來了四粒魚丸,我們都逗着說服務員真「貼心」,怕我們不夠吃送多一粒給我們!其實食客如果對食物的份量有一個清晰的概念,他們便不會亂多點,不用

其實食客如果對食物的份量有一個清晰的概念,他們便不會亂多點,不用每次也只上少許食物,麻煩食客多下幾次單之餘,又浪費紙張,更耽誤服務員時間,兼且令食客留下這老闆很寒酸的感覺,食客吃得不爽,大概下次會去光顧另一間食物質素相約,服務卻較貼心的店。

如果你是很吃得辣的人,又不嫌麻煩,且住在沙田附近,不妨來一試。如果你是不能吃辣的,卻誤闖此店,別浪費心機把煲內辣椒、香料弄出來,服務員透露那些辣椒才不辣,並只是裝飾,真正辣的是他們落重手的辣椒油...
