I hardly visit 大坑 during day times, but today was different as I arrived here to suss out a newly opened French Cake and Cookies Shop 'Le Gout', as I found out about its Opening Day today beforehand... more on that Le Gout review later, when it becomes listed on Openrice.Kindergarten is the other shop I've always wanted to visit. Kindergarten is the other shop I've always wanted to visit. Apart from cafes like La Brezza, Cafe Y Taberna and Gugu, etc, this is another local cafe hidden inside that confusing Tai Hang matrix of seclusive laneways. I noticed this cafe a few months ago during my seredipitous adventures, and could peek through the window to recognise a a Food Menu but guesswhat, I've never ever seen it open ! Has it even gone bust already in such a short period? I finally discovered why thanks to this side trip of mine today ~ Kindergarten only opens on weekends and merely for a few hours on Friday nights, from 6pm onwards. During week days it's closed to the Public and serves purely as a private entity, reserved for a private clientele of Artists/Actors and their self held parties. There are reasons for this strategic planning by the Owner since she wants to provide a space for her close circle of friends and also needs to protect the privacy of her customers from privy eyes or the paparazzi! Fortunately, its open to public access during its limited hours...

WAFFLES WITH FRUIT & ICE CREAM -
The waffles seem reheated in a pan and were a little hard, but personally I don't mind this but you might not? Arranged beautifully with diagonal banana slices and blueberries, topped with a milky scoop of chocolate chip & vanilla ice cream, this was a dessert done with heart rather than tasting very great. Nevertheless, its appreciable and at least looks appealing. 3/5
CAFFE LATTE -
Made with a locally roasted Fairtrade Certified Coffee bu unknown blend, the milk was frothed up nicely and velvety by the young part time worker. On another customer's coffee, it carries a pretty heart shape and in my cup, a bit of a swirling-sketched art. Its well balanced in aroma and flavours, with a very earthy and powdery woody note. To some, this may seemingly end on a steepish sour note drop-off (my warning!), but it was acceptable for me. Despite not knowing the blending, from my mouthfeel, I believe its proportion of Indonesian Sumatran beans are slightly on the high side, which tends to cover other bean's individual characters and sweetness. A well made coffee by the friendly staff. 4.5/5
