Exploring around Wan Chai the other night and spotted this hidden area with a couple of restaurants. I was quite surprised that the restaurants were quite packed even if they were a bit difficult to find, hence I decided to try out some dishes here. This French restaurant was not big, you might say it was a bit cozy. The tables were all full, we had to wait for 10 mins. Soon after, we were arranged to sit at the bar table with stools. I wouldn’t say it was comfortable, yet was not awful as well.

Gotta treat myself better on a Friday night, thus I ordered a French Botanical Cider to freshen up.

The appetizer was a refreshing dish, Carpaccio Scallop. The sliced scallops were soaking with a mysterious green sauce, it was actually green apple sauce. The raw scallop was soft which was good to pair with the diced and crunchy green apple, the acidic diced mango and apple lead out its fresh taste.

Up next was the French Beef Tripe, for some reason I had a perception that westerners don’t like to eat beef or pig’s organs because they think it's gross or dirty? Sautéed beef tripe is the beef stomach, it's got a slightly chewy texture. And the baked potato was amazing, you have to dip it into the beef jus.

Down to the main course, it was a Lamb Cutlet & Lamb Shoulder. I am not quite sure if it was an authentic French dish or not, since it made use of couscous, chick peas, berries and herbs, it was rather exotic for me. Nevertheless, this was my favourite dish of the night! The lamb cutlet was cooked perfectly, extremely juicy and tender. And you might wonder where the lamb shoulder was, it was actually rolled in a crispy thing. Expect the unexpected, the pulled lamb shoulder carried a strong mutton flavour (which I love that!!) and it was slightly crispy on the surface. The couscous was a bit too soft, but the taste was excellent.

What can I say, girls just love to eat dessert lol, we ordered two desserts to end the night.

Pineapple Rum Baba is a sponge cake topped with cream and lime peels, also bottomed with diced pineapple. Lastly, rum was drizzled onto the cake and got absorbed. And the sweet and fruity taste balanced the strong alcohol flavour.

The second dessert was a Molten Chocolate Tart, I am sure it can satisfy your craving for chocolate. Slightly spoon the smooth chocolate filling with the ice cold chocolate ice cream, the hot and cold feeling was fabulous and the rich chocolate taste will explode in your mouth. It was sweetness overload, yet you might have a piece of the sour berry to neutralize the flavour.
