When one thinks of Sukiya, one thinks gyudon. A bowl of rice, topped with beef slices and onions all with their Sukiya created gyudon sauce. But here is where I discovered they had a meatless version! You get three choices all in medium size: the regular plant based version, one with soft poached egg and one with cheese. Obviously the cheese and egg version is not for vegans.Menu is in English and Chinese. You press the button to order and pay on your way out.Curious, I ordered the regular vers

Curious, I ordered the regular version ($39) and upgraded to set with drink and side for $10.
This is it! The plantbase gyudon. Complete with onions and sauce. It didn't look as inviting as the photo but then it didn't look too bad. And taste? The sauce was the same gyudon sauce and there was plenty of it. The "meat" tasted like slices of beancurd. I believe that is what they used. It was ok but tasted like braised beancurd.
The side of green veggies with garlic was a nice portion. Tasted quite good though I was expecting spinach from the photo. Instead I was served mustard greens. Still good though.
Not too bad. A good option for vegetarians to come here and dine as well.
