I noticed this new burger shop the other day when I was heading for my usual place for a cup of coffee. Called Gustoso Burger, it was a takeaway only burger shop. Too lazy to make dinner that evening, I decided to try it out.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. The place is takeaway only and there is no seating area. I ordered a Gustoso Beef Burger ($48) and upgraded to a set for $24 to get the Purple Potato Balls and a drink under $18 but you can make up the difference if you choose something else. It was packaged in a very sturdy box that held together very well all the way home.
The Gustoso Beef Burger was their signature burger. So as it was my first time here, I decided to get this. It was a beef patty topped with a meat sauce, lettuce and nicely melted cheese. There was a of sauce so this was really messy to eat. But it tasted fantastic. Like a Sloppy Joe crossed with a regular burger. I liked it!
As I upgraded to a combo set, I chose purple potato balls. The menu said 2 but I guess they threw in an extra? Oh well ... cheers to that! They were super hot and crunchy.
Inside was a mochi like sweet potato paste. A nice savory sweet bite.
For the drink, you can choose any drink under $18 or they are fine with adding the difference for anything over. I chose a Mango Jasmine Tea. Usually I don't think much of these places when it comes to drinks as they are usually just lazily slapped together cups of sugar. But this was surprisingly good. I could still taste the tea and there was enough mango taste to satisfy. It wasn't too sweet but enough to not make it bland. It was also a very large cup so I could drink this the rest of the evening while watching TV.
A burger that wasn't too expensive. A decent size and tasted good. Service was fast and efficient. A good option for take away next time I don't feel like cooking.
