This restaurant is managed by the old chef of Nga Trong on Wellington Street. I went there last night with great expectation, since as many should know, the quality of the renovated Nga Trong has declined far too much. I don't want to go there anymore after having bad & expensive food for two times in a row.
The menu of La Taste has more options than Nga Trong. The prices for pho is the same as Nga Trong before it renovated. We recognize some waiters from Nga Trong.
I had a beef/chicken pho and the fried stuffed chicken wings.
Pho: the beef was very rough, so was the chicken. In terms of the quality of the meet, it is not good. The soup is ok, kind of like the old Nga Trong's, but not as tasty.
I think they should make it more tastier (like more beef taste in the soup) and put more onions/'green onions in. The noodles are the thin type of pho, but was slightly over cooked.
Stuffed Chicken Wings: not so good. The stuffing was ok but they were too heavily fried, so the chicken meat was not tender.
I also saw the people next table eating butter-fried chicken wings. I didn't taste any of it but the batter looked huge and not that appealing.
Service is slow but it is expected for new restaurants.
I will visit again and I hope they will make the pho soup tastier, And i know the owner reads this site. Please take my comments. You can win customers from the other store if you improve on your food quality.
