What better way to treat your parents than to bring them out for a nice dinner? In honour of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, from now until the end of June, Moon Lok Chiu Chow has curated a series of set menus for such celebrations. I was delighted to bring my parents to indulge in this 8-course meal, savour dishes with nostalgia and authentic taste of Chiu Chow. Set of Delight ($688/person)
-- Deep-fried Sea Prawn Wrapped with Crispy Noodle --
I'm normally not a fan of deep fried foods, but this was surprisingly good! The deep fried crispy noodle struck a good balance of airy and crispiness, and the sea prawn was fresh and meaty.
-- Double Boiled Bird’s Nest in Papaya --
The combination of the sweet papaya and savoury bird’s nest worked well in harmony! I never thought that bird's nest could be made in a savoury manner.
-- Stewed Dried Oma Abalone (23-head) with Sea Cucumber in Oyster Sauce --
This dish definitely did not disappoint! With ingredients like the 23-head abalone, sea cucumber and shiitake mushroom, it was a splendid dish to enjoy indeed.
-- Deep-fried Crispy Pigeon --
The pigeon boasts glistening, crisp skin and tender meat that is both flavourful and bountiful.
-- Stewed Fish Maw with Fish Ball and Chinese Cabbage --
This homey soup dish featured the fish balls, fish maws and Chinese cabbage. Whilst a little bitter, this light vegetable dish played an essential role to the dinner set.
-- Longevity Peach Bun --
The steamed buns were filled with the sweet lotus paste fillings that were pillowy soft and hot.
Braised Papaya with Snow Fungus Sweet Soup
A delightful sweet soup with papaya and snow fungus, nourishing and nutritious!
Kung Fu Tea was served to complete the perfect Chiu Chow meal.
