Whenever I'm in Tokyo, I love this one place called Soup Stock Tokyo. It's simple menu consists of all sorts of soups and stews and you can combine it with a bowl of rice or a salad and bun. So, every time I'm in Japan, I make a trip there for a moment of bliss as everyone rushes around me.Much to my surprise, I found something similar in Hong Kong called Souprb, a play on the word superb. Much to my surprise, I found something similar in Hong Kong called Souprb, a play on the word superb. A small shop locate in Sheung Wan, it serves soup and stews (though not as much as the one in Tokyo but quality over quantity, right?).
Menu is in English and Chinese. They have five soups and two stews to choose from. They also serve toasties, wrap, salad and drinks. Or you can just create a set for added value. There is no 10% service charge. Order (cash only) at the cashier and they will bring the food to you.
I came during afternoon tea time so chose a set from the afternoon tea session. For $45, I had chose a soup, half a toastie and hot lemon water.
The soup I chose was clam chowder. Ok, so it wasn't as good as the clam chowder back in the US as it wasn't as chunky, but it was still quite good. And decent amount of clams, potatoes and carrots.
I chose a ham, cheese and tomato toastie. It was grilled and really crispy and warm. The cheese was gooey and stretchy. A bit thin on ingredients but it was ok none the less.
A great bit of comfort food that filled me up for the time being without being too full. A good bowl of soup that made me know I will be back for more.
