Fickle is the weather in Hong Kong recently. So is my appetite. Tonight I reap the fruitful nuts by knowing a group of ‘local’ Chinese friends. It is a restaurant humbly located on a quiet street in Central, with a big contrast to the hustling bars and pubs around. The whole experience unfolds with a couple of contrasts. The chopsticks, spoons, and bowls are all born with stories.
The appetizers are so impressive. Chicken and fried fish.
The chicken is soaked in chili oil, which looks and tastes really spicy. But I still choose to finish it with a burning tongue as it tastes really awesome. The chicken is boneless, smooth, soft to chew which literally melts in your mouth.
Deep-fried Bombay duck with spicy salt $90
The fish is fresh but not fishy, very crispy outside, but inside is as soft as a new made velvet. These two are the most impressive dishes, which is common but hard to be made in such a flawless manner.
Chrysanthemum tea $25/person
To be honest, we did not expect the tea was that great, not to mention the meticulous service by the waiter as he kept refilling our cup once we finished that. We could already smell the soft, light fragrance as the waiter poured the tea for us. If you are a great fan of the tea, it is a must-try for you to have a sniff of that, it is always uplifting, beyond description. The tea cups are pretty exquisite by the way, very elegant in appearance. The first sip was refreshing, very clean with a blend of sweetness swamping the oral cavity. The tea really drains away the greasy sense left over by the previous dishes. After the inspiritment, we are ready to go for other fascinating dishes!
Strongly recommended for those looking for taste from the East.
