New to Wan Chai is Casky. It's a small joint that looks aesthetically pleasing. Quite masculine interior wise. I do like the fact the interior ceiling is designed like the inside of a cask barrel. It's a nice touch. I think it would be a decent environment to have a nice single malt as the chairs are comfortable. Even the high chairs are comfortable. During lunch there is no service charge at the moment and the prices range from HK78 Caesar Salad to HK148 T Bone Steak. The lunch menu comes with a starter which does change - but today I got some Charcuterie platter which was just three slices of rather bland ham, not what I expect a Charcuterie platter would be...

The T-Bone steak at HK148 is okay. As it's a lunch portion its cut quite thin and so lacks texture and is cooked all the way through before you can get some coloring. The chips were decent - probably the best thing on the plate. The veggies  were roasted - i think - but comes out pretty soggy as it's sitting underneath the steak. The gravy is rather weak tasting as well - tasted like ready made gravy granules. Overall, I've had better steak lunches in the area for similar price. I would say it is presented better than it tastes.

Truffle Risotto. Actually tasted good. They didn't spare on the truffle oil but the only disappointed was that the Risotto rice was overcooked and had that slightly stodgy texture. The Soft Shell Crab was really crispy and executed well. The crunchy crab with the soft risotto texture paired well.

Included in the lunch set was Coffee or Tea. The Iced lemon tea was made well - the right about of sweetness and with three decent slices of lemon. Good Ice Lemon Tea flavour.

Overall it makes for a good environment to relax and have lunch. Don't expect your taste buds to be roaring with delight like a cask strength whisky would. Imagine the food like a blended 12 year single Malt. Looks good, probably has good aroma and an initial kick - but lacks the strength in body to carry through to a fine long lasting finish.
