Every time I visit the Chi Lin Nunnery, I always have a look at the restaurant's menu wondering when I would have a go at it. Although a bit expensive, the food was ok. As all proceeds go towards the management and conservation of the Nan Lian Garden I guess it is alright. To begin, we ordered the $110 Afternoon Tea Set which comprised of 3 pieces of savoury pastries and 1 fresh fruit juice. The curry puffs and the vegetable pie I found lacked flavour. I think sweet pastry would have tasted better.
Besides salty food, we also ordered a sweet dessert. The tasty pumpkin pudding was not too sweet and was quite refreshing.
The smoothie came last. Having a cold drink is just what one needs during hot Hong Kong weather.
For the view and location, I would give high marks. As for the service, well it still needs lots of improvement. I was rather surprised that the service was so poor. None of the staff smiled. What a pity that is! Otherwise, it would have been a great gourmet experience.
