At 5ish MK was rather boring...so we unhealthily went looking for sweets. I know of this shop, but have only been once ages ages ages ago, and so we came to try out something new. Chocolate Egg White Pudding $18
This was a rather simple dish to execute, and taste wise it was pretty good - the cocoa had set on the top layer, resulting in a much browner 'chocolate' colour on the surface, whilst the inside was much lighter in colour. Nonetheless when eaten together (surface with the middle part) it was chocolatey. Good but slightly too sweet for me.
Black Sesame Roll w/ Mango and Black Glutinous Rice $24
This was a black sesame flavoured rice roll which tasted a bit like the sweet sesame soup dessert but without the sweetness, rolled around a sweet and sticky black rice and a thin mango piece per roll. This is a much more technical dish, but well executed. It is unique compared to the hundreds of dessert places one can find in HK, and the flavours combined very well, not too sweet at all. One improvement (although doubtful it will be changed) can be made with the texture of the outer sesame rice roll. Maybe a little glutinous flour should be used, so it has a softer more chewy texture, rather than the more solid texture it currently is?
All in all a unique dessert experience, but nothing to rave about. Perhaps i shall revisit though, to remind myself of their taro paste desserts and egg-white custard ones =)
