I eat here once a week, as I work nearby. I have NEVER had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and the owners friendly. The deal is rice, three dishes and a soup for $35 ($36 for take away). My personal choices:
1. lotus root and peanuts. This is really yummy. The lotus had a nice firm texture that gives way to a starchy mouth feel. The peanuts add rather than take away from the dish.
2. Green beans. I don't know exactly what they do to these salty treats, but they are really good. I think they add some seaweed too, but don't quote me on that.
3. Sweet beancurd skin. This is a sweet chili tofu skin that has a nice softness and is tempered with the rice to give a satisfying sweetness that goes well with salty dishes. SOmetimes I opt for the sweet and sour tofu cubes, but I usually pick the sweet skin.
4. The best dish in my opinion is the pumpkin. It is so soft and cooked with ginger and black beans. I could literally just have this. It has a creamyness and richness that hits all the right notes. A winner.
The soup is always something light that helps your digestion.
I really recommend this place. Even if you are not a vegetarian (I am not), give Vegetarian Hut a go - you will like it. I have told my colleagues and they all use it regularly.
