Sometimes the best things are found in hidden places. Boyfriend heard about how good these dumplings were and the first time we came, it was closed. So, a few months later, we returned to give it a try.良記 is located in a small dingy shopping center near the Po Lam MTR station. You exit, walk about 5 minutes and you are there. 良記 is located in a small dingy shopping center near the Po Lam MTR station. You exit, walk about 5 minutes and you are there. It's a super small shop that is only geared for take away. You'll see a queue of people. Yes, it's the only shop in this entire shopping center where there is a queue! There are only two people working there. Husband and wife. One wraps the dumplings by hand while the other fries them and takes your order.
Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English. There is no 10% service charge. Yes, they sell other items like fish balls, etc. But trust me. Follow what everyone else orders and that is the pan fried dumplings. $13 for 5 or $25 for 10. You can order them steamed but they cost more and I saw no one order it steamed.
Everything is made at the store. I guess they close when all the filling is finished.
We ordered 10. These were fabulous. Piping hot so do be careful when popping it into your mouth. The skin was thin yet didn't fall apart with our little sticks. The filling was mostly chives and not a lot of pork meat. It was more like a Chiu Chow style of dumpling.
These were really excellent. No wonder there was a queue. And some people were like us: people who purposely came all the way here to stand there with our piping hot dumplings in a styrofoam box.
