The cold melon soup was a refreshing start on a hot summer day. The appetizers were all on point. The lightly smoked amberjack went well with the caviar and the colorful sauces. The mushroom was a great compliment to the tender grilled octopus. Not to even mention that they kept on serving us rounds of freshly baked bread! What a great start!
The favorites of the meal must go to the cavatelli and the squid spaghetti.
The cavatelli had a great chewy texture but at the same time able to soak up all the sweet seafood ragout. With bites of lobster and uni, it was just a flavor explosion!
I am glad that I could share with my friend cause I would hate to miss the squid spaghetti. The squid was cut in different ways that gave a very interesting texture combination. The squid ragú was so flavorful! I can’t choose which one I like more!
The main course beef shoulder was tender and flavorful but the highlight was the roasted mushrooms!
The desserts were ok but I can’t say that they were as memorable as the other courses.
Overall, the menu is classic. When compared to those modern fusion restaurants that might go wrong with some dishes, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo is a very solid restaurant that you can come back with no disappointment.
