B. Duck is a Hong Kong created character. With a large range of products, this duck is just about every where. Recently, they opened a dim sum restaurant in Mong Kok. I had no idea of this until I was passed a flyer on the street offering a two people set. I showed this to boyfriend who agreed to try it out for dinner. The place wasn't very big but it was fully decorated with B.Duck and his friends. Each table even had a version of B.Duck there as well. And all their dinnerware was all decorated w
The place wasn't very big but it was fully decorated with B.Duck and his friends.
Each table even had a version of B.Duck there as well.
And all their dinnerware was all decorated with his girlfriend, Buffy.
We chose the $148 set for two. This included a cold appetizer, three types of dim sum, bowl of cart noodles and two drinks. They do charge you an $8 per person tea charge even if you order the set. This isn't one of those places that waive the tea charge if you order a set.
The cold appetizer was spicy wood fungus. This was really spicy! But the wood fungus was crunchy. And it was placed in a cute banana bowl.
One of the dim sum was custard lava bao. These had Buffy's face on it. The bao was fluffy and soft. Though the custard was a bit overcooked and not too runny.
The other dim sum was har gao. It had B. Duck on it. This was quite good. The shrimp was fresh and the skin wasn't too thick.
The cart noodle wasn't that good though there was quite a bit of stuff in it. It was topped with crispy fried noodle. it had intestine, brisket, tendon, pork skin and daikon. The intestine wasn't too good. It still tasted a bit gamey. The pork skin didn't have much flavor and the tendon was a bit tough. The brisket was also tough to chew on as well. The noodles were ok but over all not that great. But at least it filled us up.
The last dim sum item was deep fried pork dumplings. These were really hard. Definiltey over fried. The filling wasn't a lot as well. But it did arrive in a cute swing basket.
For an additonal $6, you can upgrade the set drink to something else. I decided on the Magic Coffee Latte. I have no idea why it's magic but it had a cute drawing of the characters on the foam. The coffee, on the other hand, tasted like brown water.
Boyfriend just had an ice lemon tea. This came in a cute plastic cup.
Over all, the food wasn't too good. But the decor was very nice and well thought out. There were a number of children dining so they seemed to love it. Thus, it fit the bill for a wonderfully decorated theme restaurant. The food looked cute as well even it didn't taste that great.
