First of all, I'd like to request the editor of openrice.com to update the heading "$ Spending" for Peak Cafe Bar because your suggestion "$40" is NOT realistic at all.I've had drinks and/or dined at this place many many times in the last few years but this is the 1st time I'm motivated to write a comment mainly because of a BAD experience I had from last week. I've never treated this place as a "high-class" restaurant but as an "okay and convenient" neighborhood hangout place. After all, I get 10% VIP discount + Asia Miles + all-day-long happy hour prices for all drinks. WHERE CAN YOU GET SUCH GOOD DEAL IN SOHO????? One of the staff, Stephen(Public Relation Manager - Vietnamese Canadian from Toronto), is very friendly and helpful. He really tries to make the customers feel at home(but no free drinks!!!).
The food on the menu they serve is the very "typical" pizza(charcoal flame-boiled!!!), steak & potato, pan fried chicken, Thai(duck with red curry sauce), Indonesian(Nasi Goreng) etc. Among all, the BBQ duck pizza is worth trying(only $98 each) mainly because they put lots of "hoi sin" sauce to make the duck tasty.
The wine they serve in general is reasonable in terms of price and quality even including their house wine(Willow Bridge!!!). Among all the desserts, tiramisu is a MUST if you prefer heavy rum inside!!(only $50 each glass - Yes, they serve it in a martini glass!)
Here comes my BAD experience last week. I, during the lunch hour around 2pm, personally went to the restaurant to make a booking for dinner at 7:30pm. I left my name and contact number to the waiter and I saw him copying all my information on a piece of paper. And I particularly requested a 5-man table by the front(because we want to watch the handsome men and pretty girls strolling up and down the mid-level escalator....quite a scene). At 7:25pm I arrived at Peak Cafe and my friends arrived minutes later. While my friends and I were chatting and enjoying our wine, a waiter came over and tried to ask us to switch to another table. Then in the following 20 to 30 minutes, different waiters came over at least 5 times and tried to convince us to move to another table. BUT WE ALL REFUSED TO DO SO because we had started eating already!!! The reason they gave to us is that they never saw our booking in their log book and some other customers had reserved the same table at 8pm.
WELL, IT WAS NOT OUR FAULT IF YOUR STAFF HAD FORGOTTEN TO REGISTER OUR DINNER BOOKING INTO THE RESTAURANT LOG BOOK!!!
