There have been a lot of well known fast food places that have under gone a face lift. Maxim's Express has MX Take it Easy. Genki Sushi has revamped some of their rotating sushi bars with a high speed train. McDonald's has McDonald's Next, serving Create a Burger and Create a Salad among other things. And now we have ... HOKO Farm brought to you by Hokkaido Dairy Farm.

I saw it while I was taking the tram towards Central. Curious, I got off and decided to choose this place  for lunch.

With a more colorful and cheeky design, it was basically the same concept as Hokkaido Dairy Farm. You order and pay at the cashier, they give you a number card to place on your table and bring the food to you when ready.

Menu is in the form of a clipboard and is in Chinese and English. It had items that were not found at the usual Hokkaido Dairy Farm. Things like pasta and hamburgers. Waffles and all day breakfasts. Prices were also a bit higher. Yes, this was a fancy version of Hokkaido Dairy Farm.

Carbonara with Cheddar Cheese ($58). The pasta had a raw egg yolk on the top so you should mix it up while the pasta is still hot. Though cheddar is definitely not the traditional cheese used for carbonara, it was still pretty good. I was literally surprised that this is the closest to an authentic carbonara in Hong Kong (aside from the more pricier restaurants). The pasta was al dente. Not soggy. Though not creamy enough, it had a decent cheesey flavor along with a simple addition of bacon. The sauce clung well and it wasn't soggy. I was clearly impressed.

Latte ($16). For an added $16, I added a latte to my meal. Yes, you can order a latte or a cappuccino here along with the usual Hong Kong style milk tea and coffee. It was served with a bit of latte art. Though a bit too much foam to be desired, it was a fairly decent cup of coffee. Not strong enough but had a smooth texture. I think I was a bit surprised that it would be a decent cup of coffee.

I found it amusing that they placed a label to let me know that what they gave me was a latte and that where they got their beans. Just to give me reassurance that it wasn't some instant coffee mix.

Pleasantly surprised, the meal was pretty good. I saw other interesting items and I will return again.
