Ramenyas are popping up left and right nowadays. After hearing about this joint, I went to visit with cousin J right at 1800 when it opens. Environment & Hygiene:I was glad that this was a more spacious place than some of those other joints.  In terms of layout, it was like all the others with Japanese writing on the wall, a jug of water, condiments and utensils on the long table. There was a hook underneath the table for you to hang things. Hygiene was okay. Taste & Value:There were 4 flavours:

Taste & Value:
There were 4 flavours: Plain, Black Garlic, Spicy & Miso. Cousin J chose Kamitora (Plain) ($83) and I chose Black Tora (Black Garlic) with an egg ($78+ $10).  We also shared some Gyoza ($38 for 5).

Kamitora
Noodles: Thick & Firm
Oil: Yes
Green Onions: Yes
Black Fungus: Yes
Char Siu: Yes
Egg: Included

The noodles were served on a metal tray with a spoon on the side. I wasn't quite sure if I was supposed to keep the tray or return it.
Anyways, this had a very rich and thick broth, which was quite tasty. However, also very greasy.

Black Tora
Noodles: Thick & Firm
Oil: Yes
Green Onions: Yes
Black Fungus: Yes
Char Siu: Yes
Egg : + $10

Although this broth was very thick and rich as well, it wasn't as strong and flavourful tastewise. I could not taste the black garlic at all.
Also, towards the bottom, the broth got very grainy. As for the noodles, the noodles weren't as firm as I had expected them to be. The texture was lacking somehow. Also, the noodles soaked up quite a bit of broth as half way done, I had more noodles than broth.

Now, to the toppings. The fungus was good because it had a fresh crunch. The best thing was the char siu though. It was cut thick like a slice of roast beef and was not fatty at all!!
Even with no fat, it was unbelievably tender.
I've never had char siu quite like this before! Thumbs up! The half boiled egg was okay. The yolk was creamy, but somehow I didn't find it to be super amazing.

Gyoza
They weren't bad. The wrap was thinand there was a decent amount of filling inside. However, that porky taste was a bit strong.

Sides
The sides were pickled veggies,  bean sprouts and ginger. I couldn't get enough of the bean sprouts.
I could really taste the chilli powder. Although quite spicy, they were good.

Service:
Service was good, bit if I really had to find something to pick on, it would be that they weren't quite ready at 1800, as it was more like 5-10 mins after before they allowed us in.

Final Verdict:
Everything was good, but somehow I feel like something was lacking. However, overall, I think it deserves a try.
