My wife and I were looking for a nice quiet dinner for Christmas eve since it would be a while before we can have dinner alone again during the holidays. We heard about this crazy sumo wrestler's Japanese hot pot from a friend, and since my wife LOVES hot pot (not so much for myself), we decided to book and give it a try.It is pricier than your regular hot pot, around HKD$600+10% per person, and I would like to say as someone that detests hot pot, that was the BEST hot pot I've ever had.FoodWe ha
We heard about this crazy sumo wrestler's Japanese hot pot from a friend, and since my wife LOVES hot pot (not so much for myself), we decided to book and give it a try.
It is pricier than your regular hot pot, around HKD$600+10% per person, and I would like to say as someone that detests hot pot, that was the BEST hot pot I've ever had.
Food
We had 3 pieces of appetizers with photo attached. We also had a pumpkin soup which we unfortunately finished too quickly before we could grab a photo.
The hotpot consists mainly of seasoned vegetables, bean sprouts, and best of all, the KING FISH.
The King Fish was FRESH as you can see from the photo, cought only 1-2 days before, and was brought in on the day. This is a MUST TRY TO BELIEVE kind of fish. It's the tastiest fish I have ever had, and I've had many. Words cannot describe, just try it.
I don't usually drink hot pot soups because of MSG but this soup did not have any, it was an authentic and very tasty soup. Unfortunately I totally forgot to ask for the name of the soup, but needless to say my wife and I almost drank the entire pot.
Service
We had one of their chefs prepare the hot pot for us, let us know when it's ready to eat, and served it to us! Very professional, very true to the Japanese culture and vibe which I am very picky about especially with my Japanese restaurants (which is why I'm not a big fan of Genki).
We also had the chef come out to greet us, check up on the food, and say good bye. Again, very Japanese.
Overall
I was totally stuffed, and so was my wife. We must have been in there for hours because we lost track of time and forgot we still had a Christmas shopping list check off.
Highly recommend to anyone that really appreciate fresh, high-grade sushi, and not the McDonald sushi they serve at the cheap buffets.
