I recently bought a papaya salad takeaway from a small Thai food shop in Kwai Chung Plaza. This shop specialises in authentic Thai cuisine and desserts. The papaya salad, or som tam, was fresh and packed with flavours. While it was spicy as expected from a Thai salad, the spice was well balanced with the sweetness from the papaya. You could taste the lime and tomatoes along with the roasted peanuts adding a nice crunch. The chillies provided the much needed kick of heat but did not overpower the other ingredients. Everything was finely chopped to the perfect size making it very easy to enjoy with the accompanying sticky rice. At a reasonable price, this papaya salad was extremely satisfying. I will definitely be revisiting this shop in Kwai Chung Plaza for more Thai specialities and recommending it to others.
