Sunday lunch carvery - great pea soup. Really nice and creamy and 'pea-y'. Beef was cooked perfectly, still bleeding, and the veg were all freshly cooked and almost crunchy which is how they should be. Only qualm - for the price, it wasn't as big as I might have expected. However, I left full. Stella was still as Stella should be and the cider was definitely as it said on the label - 'Scrumpy'.Kedgeree - disappointing as there was too much coriander in it which overpowered it, and, honestly, it
Kedgeree - disappointing as there was too much coriander in it which overpowered it, and, honestly, it wasn't as fishy as maybe we are used to in the UK. However, all was eaten without too many complaints. Bloody Mary was good.
Beefburger - the first few bites didn't reflect the remainder of the burger which went down really well. Chips were awesome.
Chicken sandwich - as before. Eaten without complaint and a clean plate at the end of it although the eater said she probably wouldn't have it again.
Bacon and egg baguette - cooked to perfection with lots of good bacon which is always good. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Slightly bland, but good nonetheless. Another clean plate.
Coffee good, fresh and hot.
Staff were really good and friendly.
Was empty when we arrived but was glad to see it filled up prior to our departure.
Again - can't recommend this place enough. Good beer, great food and really nice staff.
The goal posts made my friend's day.....
