This is my third visit to La Bons. The first visit dated back to the Ship St times when La Bons was still a tiny brasserie. Honestly, the impression from my first two visits was only so so. The pasta was nothing like what the goumet commentaries indicated. The texture was not al dente and the sauce was not creamy. The Fondant au Chocolat was a big disappointment ... the crust was broken from the hot filling and the choco lava was flowing out like a burst dam.
This Sunday tea time, we were near the QRE area and decided to have a little break at La Bons. The place offered a comfortable setting with big windows overlooking QRE.
La Bons positioned themselves as an Italian and French restaurant. They serve a wide range of tea sets (pasta, burgers, pizzas, desserts ... ) at reasonable price. We ordered 3 sets, all italian, --- ravioli, fettucine and a mini-pizza.
The fettucine was a disappointment. The sauce was watery and the pasta was not al dente. I didn't try the ravioli but Cat said it was okay. My pizza was a pleasant surprise, the crust was thin and crispy and topped with a generous serving of hot, molten cheese.
