Good food may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Chung King Mansion. But once you get past the myriads of people trying to sell you things at the entrance, there is some good authentic Indian food hidden in its upstairs area.Although it'll take you approximately 15 minutes to get in the elevator as it can only fit about 5 people in at once, what you find upstairs is culinary gold. Although it'll take you approximately 15 minutes to get in the elevator as it can only fit about 5 people in at once, what you find upstairs is culinary gold.
The best dish is definitely the cheese naan. Its the best one I've ever tried, and when you pull off a bit of the naan, there's an actual cheese trail that follows. There're 5 pieces of naan in each dish and although the cheese distribution is not very equal, it tastes great even in areas with less cheese as it's soft and thick.
Another thing we ordered was the Mutton Delhi Special and it was another amazing. dish. The curry sauce was a bit spicy for a "small spice" dish, but the mutton was delicious and juicy and it was worth the fire in my mouth. If you're really not a fan of spicy food, like me, you can order a Mango Lassi to cool down your tongue, in which the portion was huge and the lassi was very thick and flavourful, and you can tell they didn't add water to cheat the customers' money.
The last thing we ordered was Chicken Tikka, which was quite average as the chicken bits were quite big, but I felt that it was a bit on the dry side.
If you're looking for a fancy dinner place, this may not be it, but it certainly is worth a visit to for its amazing food.
